Is cvsweb broken?
I have been trying to access the samba cvsweb webpage all morning and keep getting an internal server error. I was curious as to whether anyone else was getting an error as well. Here is the entire text of the message that appears: Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Samba 2.2.8a and Microsoft Word
On April 13th I upgraded our main file server to samba-2.2.8a. The server is Solaris 8 x86. Due to the fact that I don't have the kernel up to date on this one yet. We built samba with --with-quotas --with-spinlocks --with-acl-support. Prior to the upgrade we were running a build of 2.2.x taken from CVS on Nov 27th, 2001. It was built with spinlocks as well. Anyhow to the point of this email.

2.0.4b - Bug in dfree > 2GB reporting for 16-bit clients
In 2.0.4b using a 16-bit client (in this case Lanman for DOS), disk space reporting for partitions greater than 2GB always reports 0 space free. I've tracked this down to the disk_norm routine in the smbd/dfree.c file. In the code for adjusting block size and disk size/free values for 16-bit reporting, WORDMAX was incorrectly being multiplied by 512 before being compared with bsize. This

2.0.2 servers with 1.9.18p10 DMB?
Have there been any problems reported with running 2.0.2 on servers using security=server with a 1.9.18p10 DMB? We've run into a situation where I've upgraded 4 of our servers to 2.0.2 but the DMB is still running 1.9.18p10. We have had sporatic trouble with the upgraded servers rejecting correct passwords because the DMB seemingly would not properly validate them. Today, we ran into a

check_oem_password: Incorrect password length
I'm currently investigating the appearance of this error message for a significant number of our users' password change attempts. It would seem from my research that this error occurs when the data coming from the SamOEMhash function is not of the expected format/value. I do not know if this would be due to incorrect data being sent into the SamOEMhash function from the client or something

password change problem
I posted my original question below to the samba-ntdom list but it seems to be the wrong place to be discussing this problem so I'm moving my follow-up to these lists. Background...I used to be using smbpasswd and the "unix password sync", "password chat", and "password program" settings to keep my smb passwords and unix passwords in sync. This was working well

SOLARIS_2.6: request_oplock_break
I saw a little discussion about this a few weeks ago but nothing concrete. We're running samba-1.9.18p8 under Solaris 2.6x86. I am periodically getting the following in the logfiles, usually _many_ at a time: 1998/11/03 14:42:00 request_oplock_break: no response received to oplock break request to pid 5411 on port 40884 for dev = 1980040, inode = 33c4d When I look up the PID (in this case

Migrating W2K Workstation to Samba Domain
I am replacing a W2K AD server with a Samba server. The server has a single W2K Workstation client, in a public area and used by a dozen or so different users. When I join the workstation to the Samba domain, it complains that it cannot load a roaming profile (in the W2K AD domain, it used local profiles), and it does not create a new local profile, instead using a temporary profile. Obviously

W2K Workstation not reading NTConfig.pol
I have recently set up an small SAMBA network(just my server and a W2K SP4 Workstation). My Server is acting as a PDC. Everything seems to work flawlessly, users, roaming profiles, netlogon script, etc... But I cannot make this machine to read my NTConfig.pol file. I have it at my NETLOGON share [/srv/netlogon] with rwxr-xr-x permissions. I have tried with different filenames (NTConfig.POL,

W2K Server and Workstation can't join SMB/LDAP domain
I have a SMB Domain set up with a PDC and BDC. The BDC is joined to the PDC domain fine and shows up in the LDAP directory. I can add and delete users to the LDAP directory. I can use the user accounts to access the Linux boxes. My W2K boxes see the domain and domain servers when browsing. I can access the shared drive on the PDC. I cannot join the Windows servers to the domain. I get an error

Weird problem connecting W2k workstation to domain
Hi all, I'm using Samba 3.0.2a and after fussing around a bit, I got a W2k client machine to join the domain. My original need to have this setup was to create printer accounting so I put in a print command (see below) in the printers section. Unfortunately, the accounting file wasn't written to. Then I ran testparm -v and noticed there was a 'print command' field in the global

Freebsd + NT/Nt-Client am Linux-Server
Pam_SMB allows Linux clients to validate their passwords against an NT PDC, so the only thing you have to do is set up the accounts on the Linux side with an '*' in the /etc/passwd entry. This can be done using a list of users: #!/bin/bash for i in `cat myuserlist`; do /usr/sbin/adduser -p '*' $i with various other command line options, such as "-s

Errors while joining a domain/authenticating
Hey all, I just joined the list because I thought it would be a good resource to have as I find myself working on more and more samba-related projects at work. The problem I am having right now doesn't seem like a hard one, but it's proving itself to be a large pain in the butt. I just built a server, installed RedHat 7.3 on it, and downloaded the samba-2.2.4-2 RPM from one of the

Printer permissions from W2K
Hey all... I am trying to connect to a Epson FX-85 24-pin printer on my file/print/samba server. I am running SuSE 9.1/Samba 3.0.2a with CUPS as the print spool. When I try to connect to the printer from W2K land, I get this error: "Permission denied" I am at a loss as to where to look (sorry I dont have my smb.conf file posted. I am away from home for a couple of days). ALl else

Slowdown when copying large files
I am currently investigating using samba on a Linux box to provide file server services on our NT LAN (I'm a bit sick of NT doing dummy spits on me). I'm running RH5.1, and have just upgraded samba to samba-1.9.18p8-51.3 (using the rpm from http://samba.anu.edu.au/samba/ftp/Binary_Packages/redhat/RPMS/5.1/samba- 1.9.18p8-51.3.i386.rpm) The setup includes several NT servers, one set up as

w2k auth issues
Hello guys, I have set up Samba after reading a lot of docs and yet I am having issues. I can not view/mount my shares from my Windows 2k server. smbclient //ip/share -U kkcarter%password works. I get in right away. Please note that I did add the machine with a dollar sign as a doc pointed out using smbpasswd -m -a machine$ afterwards, I added the username of the person logged in the windows
