I have also setup the WINS setting on my PC (W2K Pro box) to point to the IP address of my Samba server. When I do a nmblookup -R -U <IP address of WINS server> <name of my PC> on my Samba server I get this reponse; querying pc1

If user edits the file in NT the permission remains intact, but if user changes the file in W2K, everyone gets read-only. Would someone give me a couple of pointers please? Hello all I have a samba domain member authenticating to a w2k3 server, after installing SP1, there were problems, and a solution I found was to change to security = ads. This seemed to work fine, but today no-one can get their home drives, and some people are denied access to shares where the permissions on the files are rwx for the user.
