get_share_modes problem
I have samba 2.0.5a running on Openserver 5.0.5 with the latest patches
installed. I got this specific version from Skunkware (SCO's
distribution of Open Source binary packages). AFAIK, they make no changes
to the actual source. I have no problems with using samba for name
service and printing, however with file sharing I am having some strange
problems. I sporadically get problems like

byte locking bug?
I'm having trouble with file locking in DOS over Samba. The trouble is
Samba seems to be translating my lock request to a different range.
Samba server is a linux box running 2.0.5a and clients are win95 or win98.
The win32 call that I'm making to lock the file is called LockFile. We
use this regularly, and lock a byte just before the 2GB range.
We attempt to put a lock on the

Hello,
I'm having problems to join a japanese W2K Client with
SrvPck 2 installed to my samba 2.2.5 PDC controlled

Other Clients are no problem (Win98, W2k engl., WXP german).
I check the regKey (for plaintextpassword; set to 1).
Reinstalled SevPck 2, but didn't help. the problem must be
on Client side because I having the same problem when

Samba encrypt passwd
Hi,
I have samba installed on my Linux system (Red Hat
7.2), and
Windows 98 on another PC as a Samba client. Samba
works great
if PlainTextPassword is enabled. However, if
PlainTextPassword is
disabled on Windows client, connection to the Samba
shares no
longer accepted.
I believe I've done everything in order to make
encrypt passwd working:
* I converted /etc/passwd to

Can't take user info from an alternate file
I'm positive I did everything right to get Dovecot to take usernames and
passwords from /etc/dovecot/users, but it still goes for /etc/passwd and
/etc/shadow. The format of /etc/dovecot/users is
"alice:{PLAIN}plaintextpassword" Here's my "doveconf -n":

"because you dance to disco and you don't like rock" [Win2000 vs Samba/Linux]
Hey,
so i finally got it working thanks to your list (found the right
place for EnablePlainTextPassword here, the existing 3-4 matches
in the default registry don't seem to do a thing).
It was all brilliant. I got connected to all my 4 samba servers.
I was happy... 'til the next boot (you know, during installation
of system, boots happen).
Now it connects to 3 sambas (1 on FreeBSD, 1 on

Flash/Vorbis: Even more improvements
Hello everyone,
the code is slowly getting a little bit messy, but at least I've managed
to tweak a lot of performance out of my Vorbis player for Flash. I did
several improvements to the Huffman decoder by eliminating function
calls and managed after a while to create an AS/haXe hybrid player. The
haXe compiler definately produces much more efficient bytecode (at least

ssh-agent
Hi :-)
We use ssh-agent for batch jobs.
The jobs get the key from the ssh-agent over the envoirment variables.
When we start many jobs at the same time, the agent dont give the key to
the job.

How robust is mle in R?
A newbie question: I'm trying to decide whether to run a maximum likelihood
estimation in R or Stata and am wondering if the R mle routine is reasonably
robust. I'm fairly certain that, with this data, in Stata I would get a lot
of complaints about non-concave functions and unproductive steps attempted,
but would eventually have a successful ML estimate. I believe that, with

Using Squid + Samba3 + Winbind
I've just setup a squid server using the above software. NTLM
authentication works 90% of the time with no user intervention. I'm
noticing that occasionally I'm getting a popup asking for a username and
password. I've looked that the winbind logs, and the only thing I notice
is:

reproducible segmentation fault installing packages on FreeBSD 11.1
Hi,
This happens when attempting to install any package. There were no such
problems on 11.0.
Some other ways to trigger the problem:
curlGetHeaders("http://bugs.r-project.org")
There are no problems with the first two calls, but then the crash
always happens on the third call.
tf <- tempfile()
download.file("http://cran.r-project.org/",tf,method="libcurl")

Linear and cuadratic effects
I'd like to know how to obtain a table of anova of a 3^2 desing with
linear and cuadratic sum of squares because if I use "aov", this

Question about Survey Package
To whom it may concern,
I have a question referring to the calculation of variance estimation of the survey package
I need to estimate the variance for different Domains but for a stratified sampling desing in several stages. Särndal et al (1992), CAP 10, makes reference to this problem.
My question is if it is possible by means of "survey package" to obtain these

repeated measures with random effects
Dear all,
I'm interested in analysing a reapeated measure desing where plant
height (H) was measured 3 times (Time). The experimental design
include 2 fixed factor (say A and B) in which A is nested in B, and a
random factor (C, the plot), using the aov().
So my first idea would be something like:
aov(H ~ B * A %in% B * Time + Error(id) )
where id is the factor coded for the repeated

Per form field_error_proc
Hi everybody,
I needed change field error rendering for some forms created with Rail''s
form builder. I found solution by changing ActionView::Base::field_error_
proc to own before form and changing it back after form rendered.
I don''t like this solution :) It''s not thread-safe (but it''s not so
important, nobody really wants it :), but I don''t like
