Greeter openssh 7.4 is not according rfc4253.
Hi,
I discovered when using my fuse fs for connecting to a remote host
using sftp that the new
server version 7.4 sends a greeter which is not according the format desribed in
https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc4253#section-4
There is written that the greeter "MUST be terminated by a single
Carriage Return (CR) and a single Line Feed (LF) character (ASCII 13
and 10, respectively)."

Limits on smbclient -M?
Greetings-
We use smbclient -M to send a Message of the Day to clients every once in
a while. The clients are NT4 (SP3), and the server is Samba
1.9.19-prealpha. However, the same problem appears with version 2.0.0.
The issue is: once the file to be sent exceeds approximately 675 bytes
(smbclient reports sending 975 bytes, presumably including some overhead),
the message turns up blank on the

Samba mixing Domain & Server name
Hello,
I have a SLES10 64bit machine running samba 3.5.12.
i have configured a domain (TASC), and set the servers netbios name to TUX.
Samba is using the tdbsam backend.
Now I have add machines to the domain, and users can logon using their domain
accounts TASC\user.
However, if the network is disconnected, in the case of laptop users going
offsite, they cannot logon anymore. I have now

Name Resolution, Pinging
I am running redhat 7.3 with Samba 2.2.4. I was
wondering if there was a way to use Samba to resolve
my IPs instead of having to add all the entries to my
/etc/hosts file? For instance, I would like to be able
to do `ping acormany` instead of `ping <IP Address>`.
We are currently using WINS on a Windows box to
resolve the IPs. As of right now, I can `ping
acormany` on a Windows system, but

2 gigabyte issue
I am running RedHat8, samba 2.2.7
The mailing list archives seem to pin the 2gb problem on several
unrelated issues (all of which i explored).
The machines in question have no problems creating 2+gb files locally
and via NFS.
Is this an issue with smbfs? smbmount?
anyone have a workaround?

news
I know the list has been pretty quiet lately but that is
actually a good thing I think... I've been putting the
finishing touches on 1.0, resolving the last remaining
bugs, and nothing new seems to have cropped up The
release should be this week.
After that I will probably switch to a new method for
releases. Stable ones will be released as normal, but
beta releases in between may only be

antispam-plugin 1.2 and trailing carriage-returns
Guys,
Dovecot 1.0.15 [1], just built the latest antispam-plugin 1.2 (tarball)
for testing, mailtrain backend for SA integration. Both built from
custom spec files.
The mail that is being trained is different than its respective source
in the mbox file. The trained one shows added, trailing carriage-return
chars for all headers, which are not in the headers in the mbox file.
This breaks sa-learn

Authentication on Linux6.0 that running samba-2.0.3
Hello All,
I am using Linux6.0(running samba) as a file server on my network,
everything is good when I configure samba authenticate on other
machine such as WinNT4.0. But when I have configured samba
authenticate on itself (security = user) I received message error
"smbd/password.c:pass_check_smb(506) Account for user 'david' was
disabled". In this mode I created

cant rename directories on NT
Everything is working perfect on win95 but from NT4:
I can create, delete and rename files
I can create and delete directories
Problem:
I can't rename created directories from the NT4 workstations on the network. And
this is a big problem since NT4 creates a "New Folder" and asks you to type in
the name you want.
I have a 2.0.6 distribution on a SGI Origin200 Irix6.4 server. I

printing in dos slows
Hi,
I have an issue in dos printing. My okidata dot matrix printer is directly
connected to linux box and is a shared printer in samba . I am using lprng.
My problem is with dos printing. When i print, it spools first indicated in
the windows printer window. It takes a minute before it actually sends to
the linux box, you will see an indicator of spooled bytes. Once it is
submitted it prints

live streaming (from microphone to HTTP)
Can anyone share some ideas or point me to some documentation on how I can
easily begin streaming live audio?
My input would be /dev/audio (my microphone or soundcard
input).
Is there some type of small HTTP server that can use this /dev/audio piped
through oggenc (or the ogg vorbis library built into the httpd)?
Or do I use a FIFO and any regular httpd?
(I am running NetBSD.)
Thanks,

Carriage Returns in files after copying
I apologize in advance if I'm wasting bandwidth with a simple question, but
I was unable to find a solution for this problem in the documentation...
I've got a set of shares set up on a SUN Enterprise 5500 using Samba 2.0.4.
In Windows NT, I map a drive to the share. When I copy a text file from
Windows NT to the SUN, editing the file in UNIX shows that ^M has been added

Windows Filesharing Limitations
I've been trying to set up a server to fileshare to mac and windows
clients using Netatalk and Samba. Basic setup and functionality works,
but we have two lingering problems, both on the windows clients:
- can't change the user field
- can't change the group field
The windows client permissions dialog allows you to change it, but once
you close and reopen it, the changes are gone.

What shares are mounted on client ?
Is there anyway to ascertain what shares a client actually has mounted at a
given time?
I've got a number of WFW boxes connecting shared drives on my SCO-OSE3 box
using SAMBA 1.9.16p5 (upgrading to latest version RSN).
I've got some shell scripts on the Unix box which use escape sequences sent to
the client telnet to start programs on the client side. Some of these programs
