When I copy a file via network neighborhood in 98 to my home directory on the linux box the file is converted to all uppercase. Under windows even though it isn't case sensitive the first letter of each word is capitalized, but when I look at the files under linux they're all in

Hello, Whenever I reatart samba on my bsd or my linux machines windows 98 network neighborhood looses either machine, I've got samba set up as a wins server, and the 98 machine pointing to it, but this doesn't help. The 98 machine can see it's own shares, but not the samba server, any ideas? I'm running 98, freebsd 3.4 release, slackware linux 7.0 and samba 2.05 and 2.06. Thanks.

Hello, I've got a web server with samba running on it. The idea is i have a samba web share to which users can put web pages. My problem is none of the files are being shown, i have 5 folders and 24 files, only the five folders show up in a network neighborhood view. I've got nmbd and smbd so they're running now, not being blocked out by my firewall however nmbd is still unable to sync browse lists with my domain master browser, which i don't have as i'm in a workgroup and i'd like samba to be the master browser. Greets, I have two samba servers setup on linux machines (Machine A, Machine B). I would like one (Machine A) to authenticate for itself and Machine B. So far, setting Machine B up as a client pointed to Machine A as a password server seems to work somewhat but Machine B still requires the uid/gid to exist locally in order to work properly. Based on the permissions given when connecting to SWAT, and by the passwords screen, it *looks* like one can give someone (other than root) access to modify samba shares through SWAT. What's the deal with SWAT authentication? I have a Freebsd 4-Stable box running SWAT from the Samba 2.0.7 port and I can log into SWAT as a regular user (ie, not root but has a smbpasswd entry) and make any changes I want to the smb.conf file -- which is 0644 root.wheel.
