Login script
Is there a file I can place in the netlogin directory (or anywhere else for that matter) that will represnet a logon script? I want to have my workstations auto-mount particular shares on the samba server, without the user having to make the mount. This way when I add new users, the shares are automatically present. If there is a script I can place somwehre, please tell me what it's name is

change_to_user: Invalid vuid used 101
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hello! I'm running into an issue where users log into their Win2k/NT4.0 workstations, download their profiles off of our Samba 2.2.5 server, map home, miscellaneous shares, and printers on it, and then randomly during their session they cannot open these remote devices. They receive an "Access Denied" message when trying to do anything

Win2k Browse Problem
Hi All: I have a Debian 2.1 system running Samba 2.0.4 which works fine with Win95/98/NT4.0 but does not show the samba shares when the client is Win2k. You can mount the share OK even though it has a little red tail in the Windows Explorer, just can't browse to mount it. Do I have a problem or should I be patient and it will be fixed in the new samba release??? Thanks, Richard Hogue

Win2K and multiple Samba servers and Samba 2.07
Hello to all, This is my first ever use of a mailing list so bear with my ramblings and illiterate prose. I have been using samba from 2.03 to 2.07 for over a year now. We run DHCP, WINS on the samba (acting as domain) box running Mandrake 6.0. Windows machines are running everything from Win95 up to Win2K. With Win2K I have problems with slow read/write, particularly for one application

James Nord's reply to Win2K and multiple Samba 2.07 servers
Hello again, Thanks James for your replies. In regards to the slow read/write, the software vendor is aware of the problem, at some stage they will buffer the read/write, but it won't happen overnight, the binary file is quite complicated. So there are no updates available for this particular issue and I don't expect any for a couple of months. The software in question can generate

Asterisk Unregisteres IAX Friend Randomly
Hi, I've been having a strange problem recently where real-time asterisk will unregister a IAX friend at random times when the registration should not have expired. I have a Zoiper soft phone client (on windows) connecting to asterisk over a LAN (no firewalls). The default reregister time of 60 seconds is used, but the asterisk server unregisters the client (sets regseconds to 0 in the

Samba 2.2.3a, print queue status "opening,"highserver load
Printing from NT4.0 clients to Samba 2.2.3a using the NT4.0 drivers from HP works fine for me, my only problem has been with W2K clients using the W2K drivers from HP. The drivers from www.hp.com appear to be level 3 drivers, that is where they install, and they are downloaded by W2K drivers if they are available when the NT4.0 drivers are also available. Now, whether these drivers from HP are

Error in SNIA spec wrt. SessionSetupAndX response when dialect is NT LM 0.12
Good evening, On the bottom of page 53, section 4.1.2.2 in the SNIA spec (http://www.snia.org/tech_activities/CIFS/CIFS-TR-1p00_FINAL.pdf), it states if the dialect is NT LM 0.12 and extended security is off (I.e., use "traditional" NTLMv2/NTLMv2 authentication w/o SecurityBlobs), the SessionSetupAndX response is as shown in section 4.1.2.2 with a word count = 4. However, what I have

Automatic printer driver installation for NT4.0/NT2000 clients?
Dear All, I've seen the PRINTER_DRIVER.txt doc on getting the PRINTER$ share set up to automatically add printer drivers to Win95 clients. It explicitly says that the procedure described does not work for NT4.0 clients. I can't find any other documentation on setting up a PRINTER$ share suitable for NT4.0 or NT2000 clients either in the distribution (2.0.5a) or the web site. Is this

defaultip= in sip.conf doesnt work?
I have several (various brand) sip devices with static IP's. I understand that asterisk will not accept a registration from these devices if the host= parameter is not set to 'dynamic' in sip.conf. I want calls to these extensions to be routable even before the device registers. I understand that is what defaultip= is supposed to do, but it doesn't work. I get a busy tone when

Samba authenication to Window Active Directory
Has any version of Samba been tested for compatibility with the new Windows Active Directory? We will be upgrading our NT domain to 2000 and creating Active Directory. Currently our solaris samba 2.0.7 server is configured to authenicate users from our NT domain controllers. Will we encounter problems with the 2000 upgrade? Thanks in advance, Cynthia --------------------------------- Do You

samba 3.0.1 policies
Hi, We are considering samba 3.0.1 as a replacement for our old-hag Windows NT4.0 Server PDC. However, we do want some policy control, and from the samba 3.0.0 documentation (23.3), it says the only current functional policy is the password expirey. Is this still true in samba 3.0.1? Can an NT4.0 server be a backup domain controller to samba 3.0.1 PDC? That way we can keep the NT4 machine

winbindd to NT 4.0
Hi, I have a Samba server Version 3.0.14a-2. It has been working flawlessly for close to a year. I utilize winbindd to a NT4.0 domain to authenticate users to my Samba shares. All of a sudden, the shares are no longer accessible to Windows machines. An ls on an example directory shows: drwxrws--- 15 root 10000 4096 Dec 6 11:21 AC_Manuals This is wierd because the 10000 should show

Windows NT 4.0 SP3
I have Samba 1.9.17p2 and it works great on NT4.0 SP2 When I update to NT4.0SP3, my Samba connection gives me the following message: The account is not authorized to login from this station. Did something change? Maybe NT4.0 SP3 uses a smb.conf option that wasn't used before? I've installed the package version from the Solaris 2.5 web site. I'm actually running Solaris 2.5.1

File corrupted when copy one large file(10G) from NT4.0 to samba
Hi All, When I copied one file from NT4.0 to Linux through samba with 'copy' command in NT4.0, the file was always corrupted. Size of the file copied into Linux was always about 4G. If I copied it through Windows Explorer, it was OK. It seems samba cannot process the "Write Raw" request sent by 'copy' command correctly when file size is larger than 4G bytes. Thanks

Newbie (groan... !) Client Problem
I've studied the books, searched the list archives, etc. I suspect there is someone who can just tell me one thing to tweek, so I humbly beg your advice. Situation: I am playing with/learning Linux, intending to replace our two company Netware servers sometime in the next 6 months. At home, I have an NT4.0/SPC PDC, an NT4.0/SP6 docked laptop, and an HP server with RH7.1 or 7.2 (2.4.??
