Slow pkginstalls due to long door_calls to nscd
Hi all,
I am installing a zone onto two different V445s running S10U4 and the
zones are taking hours to install (about 1000 packages), that is, the
problem is identical on both systems. A bit of trussing and dtracing has
shown that the pkginstalls being run by the zoneadm install are making
door_call calls to nscd that are taking very long, so far observed to be
5 to 40 seconds, but always in

Natural vs National in R signon banner?
The R signon banner includes this statement:
Natural language support but running in an English locale
Should that not say 'National' instead of 'Natural'?
Meaning that LOCALE support is enabled, not that the interface understands
human language?
Please ignore this and forgive me if this is an inappropriate post. I am a

ssh 4.x using aix 5.3 auditing
Im trying to identify how ssh 4.5 interacts with the audit subsystem within AIX 5.3. i get an event when a user logs in, but not when they exit via ssh. i can get it to work with telnet, however. It would seem to me that if an event is captured from the login, that the same would be true for the logout. I've opened a PMR w/IBM, but not getting very much help.
below is an example of my

Call for testing for 3.6
We are heading into a lock here. So we need to get people to test their
respective platforms if they wish them to be supported out of the tar file.
So if you have any patches you need to ensure your platform works speak
up. We are looking at a lock on the 17th.
I believe I have an AIX/Cray patch and a Tru64 patch sitting in my mailbox
that I'll be looking at soon and more than likely

Binary distribution for AIX 4.3
Hi all,
Does anyone know of a binary distribution of a fairly recent version of
samba for AIX 4.3 ?
I've tried the 2.2.5 binary distribution from www.bullfreeeware.com but when
I ran testparm and smbstatus, just as a quick check, I got symbol table
errors.
Thanks in advance.

Natural vs National in R signon banner?
The way it's phrased now makes it seem that English is not a Natural
language ("Natural language support *but* running in an English locale").
Why not just state: "running in an English locale" and leave it with that?
Better to leave something out than to be unclear (being correct formally
does not always mean being clear to all users).

net ads join on AIX 5.2 - Mission Impossible ?
Hi all,
is it possible at all to get Samba 3 on AIX 5.2 to join a Win 2003 Domain natively ? All the precompiled versions do not have AD Support and having AIX krb5 installed (let alone using --with-ads)is enough to make a compile run fail - both 3.0.14 and 3.0.20rc2. Might Heimdal solve this ? Has ANYONE got a working installation ?
Solving this would make quite a difference to my current life,

sl/include -I/usr/include/X11R6" LDFLAGS="-L/usr/local/lib -L/usr/local/ssl/lib

Bug#384739: Just hit that too
I just hit the problem too, but in digging into it I found that the
post-inst script was running the dh_installinit bit which tries to start
the daemon, before the dh_pycentral bit, which makes the python modules
available. I manually ran "pycentral pkginstall xen-utils-3.0" then
xend would start and the postinst script could finish.

need help - where to get binaries for HPUX 11.0 for 2 .2.3a AND winbind
Hello Altaf,
You can now pull swdepot of Samba 2.2.3a WITH winbind from the samba ftp
site - this is swinstallable and so you will not need to compile - it
already has winbind built.
You can get it from:
http://us1.samba.org/samba/ftp/bin-pkgs/hp/samba2.2.3a/
named samba_2.2.3a_HPUX_withwinbind.depot
hope this helps,
Don

rsync 2.5.5 compilation problems
Hi,
I compiled rsync on an HPUX 11i box, and got lots of errors about
redefining sendfile() and sendpath(). The compilation succeeded, but the
binary failed. I then took a binary I had compiled on an HP11.00 box, and
it worked fine.
I tried this with both gcc & the HP ansic compilers. The same results.
I am attaching a full transcript of the configure & compilation session.

What version of Samba will work with an AIX version of Unix?
Hi all
We are currently looking to implement a scenario where our AIX Unix
Server and Windows Server can communicate with each other using a
version of Samba.
We currently scan images which are stored on our Unix system and ideally
we would like our Windows Server to have access to these files. The
software we use for our daily business is Unix based so the the scanned
images have to be

SAMBA on AIX --> nsswitch.conf?
Hi
I am still trying to run SAMBA on AIX with "security = ads" and I have
a few questions:
- on AIX is no such file as /etc/nsswitch.conf --> Do I have to add
the configuration somewhere else?
- I allways get this "User xy is invalid on this system" if try to map
a share from Windows. What does this mean? Is the user invalid on the
Domain? on AIX? on SAMBA? Is the User
