Anyone use PDQ with Samba for Printing
Hello,
** Please reply directly to ian@ichilton.co.uk **
Does anyone use PDQ for printing with Samba?
If so, please could you tell me what options to use in smb.conf??
Mainly, what do I use for the printing option?
Can I just use:
printing = bsd
print command = pdq -P%p %s; rm %s
Or, can I not use PDQ, because there is no setting for it on the printing
parameter???
Thanks!

Win2K can't print to a Samba Printer?
Hello,
** Please CC replies to ian@ichilton.co.uk as I am not subscribed **
I have a Brother laser printer connected to a linux box running Samba.
It is working fine from Win98 workstations, but now I have Win2K on my
laptop, I am unable to print. This is because the linux box obviously
doesn't have the win2k driver so I tried to install it as a local
printer and then change it to a network

Samba on A SGI Indy Cyclone IRIX system???
Hi there:
We have recently inherited a circa 1996 SGI Indy Colorbus Cyclone running on
Irix.
Our intention is to use this unit to drive our Canon CLC900 Scanner Copier
and make it accessible to our Windows Network.
At the moment, our Windows Network does not "see" the Cyclone & vice versa.
I have read that installing some kind of Windows Samba client onto our

samba and firewalls
I have a little home network with one Windows 98 PC and a pc running
linux.
My idea is that as soon as DSL is finally made available to my area
(which I keep getting told will be real soon now) I want to route it
through the linux box and up to the Windows PC, using IP masquerading,
etc.
At present I have samba enabled on the unix box which opens up several
worthwhile conveniences to me:

Doing weird bouncing of IAX trunk calls on purpose
Ok, so this might seem weird, but hang with me on this. I have two sites, Indy and Lafayette that each have their own Asterisk server. They each have their own outside PRI line. They are also trunked internally via and IAX tunnel over a private fiber line.
I've recently been asked to have the calls incoming to Indy, forwarded to a group in Lafayette (only during the day, so can't be

Echo on Zaptel FXO :(
Hi All,
I've got an MD3200 modem which is working as a Zaptel FXO interface for
Asterisk (X100P clone I believe). It seems to work, but on incoming or
outgoing calls I can hear the other party ok but when I speak, I hear
my voice echo back at me (quite quietly but it's distracting!) on
everything I say. The other party doesn't seem to hear the echo - they
just say I sound a bit quiet.

Detect line is busy with Zap?
Hi,
I have an FXO card connected to my phone line which works in Asterisk as
Zap/1.
Is there any way of detecting whether something else is on the line
before picking up on this channel?
For example, I dont want to pick up and dial out on the line if someone
is on it using another phone (which is connected directly to the line,
rather than through Asterisk).
Also, when an incoming call comes

OT: Tux500 Linux Marketing Program
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

I found this on my Newsforge newsletter this morning. A group has put
together a marketing program attempting to get some cash together for
Linux to get a sponsorship sticker on an Indy 500 car. CentOS is on the
list of folks who have contributed. Only $25 so far.

question about centroid-linkage (cluster analysis)
Dear R community,
I would be greatful if somebody could shed light on the following.
I have created a set of 6 points to check how centroid
agglomeration works in cluster analysis:
> Y <- data.frame(x=c(-1,1,1,-1,10,12),y=c(1,1,-1,-1,0,0))
It is quite intuitive to understand that the last clusters to be joined will be
{1,2,3,4} with {5,6}. Now, the centroid for the first cluster has

Single shared directory, with a universal password
Hello,
I am using Samba "Version 2.2.3a-12 for Debian" on a Debian 3.0 system.
I have looked at lots of Samba documentation and have not been able to
find anything explaining what I need. I want to create a single directory
on my Samba server that is ok for any user (e.g. 'guest ok = yes'), but
is password protected. Meaning, I want a share that any user can access

convex hull for cluster analysis
Dear R gurus and users,
I seem to have problem finding the right tool for plotting convex hulls over
2D plots, after a cluster analysis. In fact I would like to draw a convex hull
in 2D for a generic group of points. I found a "convhulln", but this doesn't seem
to give me a convex hull. Here is what I do:

> Mean <- c(2,1)

how to define method for "+" function in a new class
Dear R developers,
I have a new class, which I called "Molecule", and have tried to define =
a "+" operation for 2 objects of this class.
This is what I have written so far, although the method is not complete =
(I'm trying to look at it at intermediate stages):
setMethod(
f=3D"+",
signature(x=3D"Molecule",y=3D"Molecule"),

Xapian 1.4.0 released
I'm delighted to announce the release of 1.4.0. You can download from:
http://xapian.org/download
This is a major milestone release, but the last development release (1.3.7)
was essentially a release candidate so the changes arefairly minor - the only
notable change is the update to Unicode 9.0.0.
That means a short thank you list for this release - thanks to Andy
Chilton!

unexpected result in function valuation
Dear all,
I have a very small script to plot a function. Here it is:
##########################################
sinca <- function(N,th)
{
return(sin((N+0.5)*th)/sin(0.5*th))
}
plot_sinca <- function(N)
{
x <- seq(-5*pi,5*pi,by=pi/100)
y <- rep(0,length=length(x))
for (i in 1:length(x))y[i] <- sinca(N,x[i])
plot(x,y,type="l",ylim=c(0,2*N+4))
return(c(x,y))
}

Linux SMB Mount utils patch
Hi,
I'm sure that you are all aware that the mount utilities that ship
with samba are designed to compile and run only with Linux 2.1 series
development kernels.
I'll _try_ keep this short and sweet while doing my best to
explain what I have done, since I have a tendancy to ramble on. I
have two boxes, one Linux with libc5, and another with Linux and Glibc2
(aka libc6). The Samba
