Automating the Samba Install
Hey all,
I'm coloring outside the lines a little bit here but I would like to
automate the install of a samba pdc. Within that script to install I
would like to assign rights to a group. Here is an example of a few steps:
# Create Unix group:
groupadd domadmins
# Map unix group to samba groups:
net groupmap add ntgroup="Domain Admins" unixgroup=domadmins rid=512 type=d
# Assign

Problems w/ winbind and AD group membership
Hello friends,
I am using samba to join a linux box to an active directory domain to
use as a file server. I would like to be able to control access to
shares based on AD domain groups. However, even though winbind seems to
be seeing the groups fine, samba is not granting access to users who are
members of the group. I am able to successfully join the system to the
domain and granting access to

credentials file doesn't work
I am using a Gentoo Linux machine and trying to mount a remote file
system via samba. The following DOES WORK:
mount -t smbfs -o username="SMB-SRV\stonyy",password=abc123
//smbsrv/proj /mnt/proj
However, I don't really want my username and password visible to the
world (yes, I changed the password and everything but the backslash in
the username for this posting). So I tried

Winbind being flakey
After some more screwing around with leaving and rejoining the ADS
domain I was finally able to access a share with "valid users =" set to
a domain group I was a member of. The _only_ change I made after this
was to add yet another group to the valid users on the share and restart
samba...after that I could no longer access the share. I removed the
additional group, restarted samba and

replace the existing windows samba server. It's been now two weeks that I am
struggling with a vicious problem, and I cannot see any issue right now.
Before I loose all my hairs, I am sharing with you this problem : hopefully,
someone will have a tip for me.

MMap failed with code 22
We have been using samba since 1995 and have found it superb, Thanks to
all. Recently
I built Samba1.19.17alpha4 on a DECstation 5000 running Ultrix 4.4 and

This results in

xen 2.0/2.0.1 reboots silently on via C3-cpu
On my lex mainboard with a Via C3 cpu, xen 2.0(.1) reboots (nearly)
immediately without any outputs.
The same setup/version boots without problems on a via epia M board with
a Via C3-2 cpu (Nehemia), having a rather different chipset.
Starting with option noreboot, nobiostables doesn''t change anything
visible.
Is this a known problem? Or just a knowingly unsupported chipset?

Password Server level authentication
Hello all :-)
I have a Solaris 2.5.1 1.9.18p7 Samba server. I want to use an NT 4.0

Veto files option not working
We're getting very close now to having our RH6.1 server as we want it.
Just a few anoying things left to iron out so we can trial it properly
prior to going live. One of them is the "veto files" option in
smb.conf. We want to stop users on Win95 clients from seeing (or
deleting) the dot-files in their home shares. I've tried the above
option, I've tried "hide dot

hello,
I''m running XEN 2.0 on IBM ThinkPad T23.
Now the weird thing is that I get two different outputs from /sbin/lspci
depending on whether I run 2.6.8.1-xen0 or 2.6.8.1-bproc.
In particular the output from 2.6.8.1-xen0 seems to be missing those 4

Confused about prerequisites for ZFS to work
I''m hoping to get some general clues about what all is required to get
an experiment going with zfs.
I''ve managed to install osol-11 in a vmware on windowsXP host from a
recent *.iso.
I''m following along with Simon''s blog showing how to set up ZFS. I''m
newbie with both ZFS and Solaris but the instructions seem pretty
clear.

I need to run windows program with command line parameters?
In Windows; to have Firefox pass psyn links to the Curse client I use this command:
Code:
"C:\Program Files\Curse\CurseClient.exe" -url "%1"
but when I try to get Linux's Firefox to pass the psyn link to the Curse client running in wine, wine of course assumes that -url and the quotation marks are for it and not the actual Windows command it's meant to run.
How do I
