Samba 2.2.3a, print queue status "opening," high server load
I have Samba 2.2.3a installed and running successfully on Solaris 8 in a test environment. I manually enter printer shares into the smb.conf file, and then I can upload printer drivers to the Samba server from a Windows session without problems. When I try to print to a print queue on this server from a Windows 2000 SP2 machine, the application I am printing from hangs, the CPU usage of the smbd

bindAsEventListener with parameters
I would like to share a modification to bindAsEventListener() that might be useful to some of you. It makes it possible to do function show(event, number) { alert(Event.element(event).id + " = " + number); } Event.observe("el1", "click", show.bindAsEventListener(this, 5); Event.observe("el2", "click", show.bindAsEventListener(this, 10); That

gluster and rocks?
Is anyone using Gluster with the Rocks cluster system? If so, do you know if there is a Roll for Gluster? Or, do you have any advice about things to do and things to avoid doing? We're considering using Gluster with Infiniband on our cluster and trying to learn whether other people have done this so we can perhaps learn from their experience. Thanks. .. Samba 2.0.3 in Domain
We're encountering sporadic difficulties with Samba 2.0.3 on Sun SPARC Solaris 2.5.1 and 2.7 running in "security = DOMAIN" mode. The PDC logs an error 5722, with text "The session setup from the computer MERCURY failed to authenticate. The name of the account referenced in the security database is MERCURY$. The following error occurred: Access is denied.". The smb log

NT ACL's
I've been trying to use the NT ACL's which have been added to Samba. While it's very nice to be able to view the settings, I've noticed that it accepts changes made from NT Explorer's permissions property page, but the changes are not actually made. Am I doing something wrong or is this a limitation of the current implementation of this feature? It would be extremely nice for

wine client error:0: version mismatch 432/431
Can someone tell me why, despite using a completely clean tree, I keep getting this on a Wine64 build? Code: wine client error:0: version mismatch 432/431. Your wine binary was not upgraded correctly, or you have an older one somewhere in your PATH. Or maybe the wrong wineserver is still running? It's getting on my bloody nerves! TIA

Samba 3.0.11 port and install issue to solaris 8
Hi Samba Team I have ported samba 3.0.11 to Solaris 8 because of the security warning for Samba 2.2.8a but it will not start from inetd. I have taken 3 weeks to find that it starts OK as a standalone daemon using a startup script /etc/init.d/samba #!/bin/sh # Samba startup case $1 in 'start') echo "Starting smbd..."
