Solaris 2.4 and 2.0.6: socket ?
Hello!
We just upgraded our samba-1.9.18p10-Server on solaris 2.4 to samba 2.0.6:
configure and compiling worked o.k., we didn't see any error messages.
we did not touch smb.conf
The NT-clients can not conect to the server: "Server is not avaiable",
in the logs we get the message:

Samba question - Out of File Structures
I could do with some help.
We're creating a large number of files from from NT Workstation.
After a while (I think it's 1014 files but it may be 2027), the SAMBA log
reports "Out
of file structure" errors. Below is a cut down version of the log
file. The 1014 number is significant as it appears in the SAMBA log when
SAMBA starts.
I'm guessing it's a Solaris OS limit.

Session request failed: SMB error
Hello all,
I receive some errors which I cannot explain :
Hopefully there's someone who can help me.
When I type: "smbclient -L 10.33.6.180"
I get:
Session Request to 10.33.6.180 failed (code 0)
Session Request to 10 failed (code 0)
Session Request to *SMBSERVER failed (code 0)
What does code 0 mean?

FYI: invalid 'password server' can cause segfault
While installing Samba 2.0.6 using 'security=server', I at first used a
domain name (whatever.epicentric.com) for the 'password server'
parameter,
before realizing that it should be the NetBIOS name (WHATEVER). An
incorrect value appears to cause a segfault (on Solaris). The
workaround is "don't do that then" but thought I'd report it in case

nmbd over ppp
hello everyone.
I don't have a network, but I'm trying to get my friend to
dialin and use my shares that I have provided via smb. Now I have a big
prob with nmbd and ppp. Under Interfaces I can specify ppp* 192.168.0.2
, which is the ip that the dialin user is assigned and yet still nmbd
shuts down showing an error that no interfaces were found.

smbd/files.c:(215)
Hi
I'm getting the following errors every time my EDI Load machine connects to
my samba server. Is there any information you can give me about the error
and if there is a fix if it is necessary.
Thanks
Stephen

Config that worked before doesn't work now.. can't lock file..
Hello all,
I hope this is the list - I get E-mail addresses mixed up when there are
many..
Summary & Intro :)
I have a file server named Jukebox, running RedHat 7.0 OOTB (Out Of The

installed samba and all its dependencies, as delivered by RedHat, with
RPM. After this, I took the smb.conf which worked on the previous

This is the list of problems I had with samba-2.0.6 so far. Can anyone

sighup/log reopening doesn't always work: connections that are already
active keep logging to the old logs; logrotate rotates/zip the logs and
samba stops logging completely till restart.

IRIX 6.5 with samba-2.0.6 and gcc.
I just report a problem that seems to be know since quite a long tiem, but is
neither reflected in the FAQ nor in the README's of the samba distribution.
The problem is that using gcc under IRIX to compile samba gives a mismatch in
calling semctl, because the structure passing conventions of gcc are not same as
the IRIX cc conventions.
(As far as I know semctl is the only function taht is

nmbd forkbombed my machine :-\
Hello everyone,
Assuming this is the right place to post potential bug reports, try this :
(Apologies if it's been posted/covered somewhere else, but your lists
don't seem to have a search facility...)
nmbd had a good go at fork bombing my "server" just now, with a setup as
follows :
Samba 2.2.0a on Slackware Linux v8.0, linux kernel 2.4.16. i586 with
500ish mb of ram.
