Samba in a Win2k domain
John Dodge asked this same question back in December, but I haven't
seen any response in the archives. So, here it is again:
Samba appears not to be able to authenticate users whose account
lives in a Win2k domain. I have a couple Samba 2.0.4b servers that
use the local NT 4 PDC for authentication. The NT admins tell me
that the new Win2k domain has a trust relationship with the old NT 4

Samba in a Win2k domain (repeat)
I asked this question back on Monday and haven't seen any responses.
Have I not stated the problem clearly enough? Does it appear as if
I have not done my homework? Is nobody actually trying to integrate
Samba with Win2k domains? Am I not being patient enough?
If you've got a clue about how to get Samba to authenticate a user
who happens to have his account in a Win2k domain, please

Attempting to mount to a Samba share from linux.
Hello, I have a fairly large problem mounting a samba share from within
linux. The samba server, running Solaris 7 with Samba pre-2.0.7, has a
bunch of shares on it, one of which I can mount from Windows, while logged
into the ACADIA domain, but I cannot mount that share using smbmount in
linux. When I log into windows, I log in with the username 033197m and my
password. In smb.conf I have my

Possible bug in 2.0.7?
Hi.
I'm setting up a Linux server (VA Linux version of Red Hat 6.2, kernel

samba handles nt logon restrictions wrong
we use samba as member servers with security=domain pointing towards a WinNT4 PDC.
accounts that have workstation logon restrictions are unable to connect to samba shared ressources
but are able to connect to windows nt shared ressources as they should.
normally, workstation logon restriction should deny only interactive logons.

Cascade PDC and Samba 2.0.4b
A colleague just wrote and said he's had a problem with Samba using a

recently!
The symptom reported was, with security = domain and password server =

NT_STATUS_WRONG_PASSWORD
Hi,
I have a problem with the NT domain password validation.
When I define a user a local Unix user with the same name like the Windows user the password
validation works fine:

newbie desperate for help
I just installed Samba for the first time. Installed and setup like a dream. Unfortunately, I can't login to save my life. The server appears in the Net. Neighborhood, but when I double-click to login, the login window give the following message:

Entering a username and password (from /etc/passwd) returns:

win2k domain-less client failing to authenticate when securit y=domain
Hi Jonathan,
Yep, samba sends the domain name as well as the username to the domain
controller, and what I think happens is the NT controller sees that the
domainname passed is NOT his domain, checks his list of trusted domains,
doesn't find it, and says sayonara buddy... I am assuming that 'SATURN' is
the netbios name of the win2k client machine? I'm not real clear on how

Samba joins win2k domain but can't authenticate
All I got my samba server to join my win2k domain without any problems.
But if I change the config to read security=domain it prompts the user
for a username and password. If I change it to security=server it does
not prompt for user names. I did some searching in the list came up with
a few emails and this website

Win2k DC no longer authenticates for Samba shares
I have a win2k domain ... 2 of the client machines are Red Hat (7.3 and
8.0). I set everything up to use the DC to authenticate ID/PW. Everything
worked perfectly until a week or so ago ... Samba would automatically create
a home folder and the whole nine yards. Now I can see the shares on the
Samba machines, but I can't access them ... just prompts for the ID/PW over
and over. I can mount

authentication from win2k DC
Hi,
I've followed the instructions in the chapter 8 of the documentation to
connect my AIX 4.3.3 machine with Samba 2.2.8.1 (taken from bull as
binary for AIX).
The server is in the domain now, but the domain users can't log on to
the samba server. The first problem in the log file is:
