swat on red hat 7.2
Hi,
I'm having a minor issue with swat on red hat 7.2. It won't let me make
any changes to the samba server (adding shares, printers, and global
definitions). The buttons to access these simply don't exist. I can view
status, but I can't make any changes (not even restart the daemons).
This works fine on my Debian system. The only real difference that I can
think of is inetd

almost, but not quite, works perfectly
Hi,
we have this windows application developed internally to keep track of
trouble tickets for the IT people. Since I mostly work in the unix/linux
environment it would be very nice to be able to use this application with
wine. Here is a summary of what i've done so far:
installed Wine-20011226.tar.gz
copied the program dir from a windows box.
Ran the exec (wine Aruser.exe) and recieved

DHCP_HOSTNAME in ifcfg-eth0
Hello
Is there a way for the dhcp client to send the current host name of the
machine when requesting a lease ?
Currently I have to include a line like
DHCP_HOSTNAME=appserver2
in my /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0, but I would like to
tell the dhcp client to just 'also send the hostname' and then the
client to get the current hostname itself, instead of having the name

Veto files option not working
We're getting very close now to having our RH6.1 server as we want it.
Just a few anoying things left to iron out so we can trial it properly
prior to going live. One of them is the "veto files" option in
smb.conf. We want to stop users on Win95 clients from seeing (or
deleting) the dot-files in their home shares. I've tried the above
option, I've tried "hide dot

[LLVMdev] Experimental Evaluation of the Schedulers in LLVM 3.3
I am seeking advice.
In your estimation, how difficult would it be to retrofit LLVM
3.2 with this body of improvements to instruction scheduling (and
optionally, the loop vectorization as well).
Would you have any suggestions for how best this might be
achieved, i.e. the scope of the code required? Has anyone
attempted this kind of retrofit?
Thanks,
Rick

[PATCH] ipconfig: send hostname in DHCP request
If a hostname is requested, for example -d ::::foo::dhcp, then include the
hostname in the DHCP discover/request. This patch also allows
the vendor class identifier to be omitted from the DHCP
discover/request by specifying -i ""

ipconfig:About the length of 'options' field of DHCP packet
Hi,
I had the problem that 'ipconfig' as DHCP client in Debian-squeeze could not get
DHCP Offer reply from the built-in DHCP server of the cheap route that I have.
The name of the router is 'MegaBitGear TE4571E' which
I got at contract of ADSL Internet access service in 2009.
The router is not too old and can reply to other
DHCP clients like ISC-dhclient, WindowsXP and Vista.

Please help(urgent) - How to simulate transactional data for reliability/survival analysis
Hi friends,
I haven't done such a simulation before and any help would be greatly appreciated. I need your guidance.
I need to simulate end to end data for Reliability/survival analysis of a Pump ,with correlation in place, that is at 'Transactional level' or at the granularity of time-minutes, where each observation is a reading captured via Pump's sensors each minute.

Can't get into share
It appears I have things set up. Linux (RH6.1) box is running samba and
I'm trying to access shares from my 98 box.
>From Network Neighborhood I can see the linux bo listed with the other LAN
boxes.
If I d-click to open the smb box, I DO get a folder withthe share name in
explorer. Then, if I try to open that folder (share) it asks for a

config problem with 1.2.2 on Redhat 6.1 / pam
Hi there!
I have a small - but essential :) - problem with the above configuration. I
compiled the 1.2.2 version straight forward, with almost default settings
(sysconfdir=/etc/ssh)
After that I copied the sshd.pam to /etc/pam.d, generated the host-key and
started sshd

I am attmepting to install ssh/sshd on my RH6.1 Intel Box. Everything
seems to be working (not quite smooth sailing - I had to resort to
precompiled RPM for OpenSSL). I did however get it "working." I
generated a host key as root and then changed back to joe-user. I created

starting smb services at bootup on x86 RH6.1
I am running RH6.1 on an x86 with 2.0.6 installed with an RPM. I am
confused as to getting smb to start at bootup. It works fine if I start it
manually (/etc/rc.d/init.d/smb start). I swear, the 5.2 installation had
smb start at bootup, but I can't find the difference between the two. Is

Please help(urgent) - How to simulate transactional data for reliability/survival analysis
A small example data set that illustrates your question will be of great value to those trying to help. This appears to be a transformation that you are wanting to do (timestamp to units of time) so a data representing what you have (dput() is handy for this) and one representing what you want to have with any guidance regarding how to use the other columns in you data set (e.g., the event(0/1)).

RFC PATCH: bring OpenBSD stdarg in line with FreeBSD one
Having an absolute path in a #include confuses distcc''s pump mode.
Since AFAICS OpenBSD''s stdarg handling uses the builtins, I think we
should just treat it like we do NetBSD.
I don''t have an OpenBSD box to test on, though. :( Any OpenBSD
enthusiasts care to comment?
Tim.
