MS Excel/NT/Samba timestamp - serious problem, bug?
A rather distressing timestamp issue (to multiple users here). Anyone seen similar behavior or have a suggestion/solution? Problem: Opening and closing an excel file (no changes/keystrokes to file) on the Samba server causes the file to be saved with time stamp of closing. (There is no autosave set on Excel - also see other info below) MS Excel 97 SR-2 NT 4.0 SP5 Solaris 2.6 or 2.7 (2

Problems authenticating against NT PDC
I'm relatively new to Samba so please excuse any inconsistencies with my terminology. I'm running Samba 2.0.6 on Solaris 2.6 and having problems creating the Samba server machine account on an NT PDC. I already have an NT based domain 'PCDEV' which consists of a number of NT 4.0 workstations as well as a PDC ('AULE') and BDC running NT 4.0 Server with sp5 (??). My NT

RPC error on Windows NT4.0 clients
Hi, I'd appreciate any help. I'm getting this odd error when I add in a new samba share to the existing ones on a machine. The error seems to affect some of my NT clients, yielding a message "A remote procedure call (RPC) protocol error occurred." This does not happen to all my NT clients, nor does it seem to affect smbclient on my other samba server. The samba server is

Samba 2.0.4b & NT 4.0 SP5 gives Remote Procedure Call Error 1728
Hello, I'm running NT 4.0 (ws & server) with SP5. Everything was running fine with samba 2.0.0, but after building and installing 2.0.4b (freebsd 2.2.8) trying to browse the server shares results in a "A remote procedure call (RPC) protocol error occured." net view \\myserver also produces the same error message: "System error 1728 has occurred. NT 4.0 SP4 -> SP5: Permission denied?
Hi, I've upgraded an NT 4.0 Client from SP4 to SP5. Now I'm unable to mount a shared medium from the samba server, because the user authentication failed. After downgrading all things are well. Is this a problem of NT password encryption? I read NT 4.0 SP4 uses encrypted passwords already?! The samba server is running SuSE 6.1 with Samba 2.0.3. Thanks, Lars --

My grub2-btrfs & yum-plugin-snapper
Hello Guys, Last Sunday I had the idea to expand my gameplay btrfs. Now what was missing was a yum plugin which worked like arch or opensuse. Ok, I told myself and learned a little python. Also something for grub2 to boot into a snapshot. My results are up on: https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/andybe/Centos7Btrfs/ grub2-btrfs (do not use grub-btrfs, this is the version before)

Snapper packages for Ubuntu
Hi, I''ve created snapper packages for Ubuntu, available on https://launchpad.net/~snapper/+archive/stable. For those new to snapper, it''s a tool for managing btrfs snapshots (http://en.opensuse.org/Portal:Snapper). It depends on libblocxx available from https://launchpad.net/~bjoern-esser-n/+archive/blocxx , and currently uses git source up to commit 50dec40. I''ve done

strange loss of accuracies under Win NT
Dear All, It's been several times I observed a very strange behaviour with R 1.2.0 under Windows NT 4.0 (with sp5): accuracies are lost in many cases. Things are back to normal when I exit R and restart it. Here is an example of my last encounter with this: > bt1 <- c(7.3, 8.1, 8.4, 7, 6, 7.2, 6.7, 8.3, 9, 7.4, 8.6, 6.2, 6.9, 7.6, 5.3, 5.6) > bt1 [1] 7 8 8 7 6 7 6 8 9 7 8 6 6 7 5 5

was code added to detect or die on sighup recently?
I have a script that normally runs my snapshot that I haven't used for the past several days because something seemed to be going wrong and I wanted to run things manually. But running the script twice today, I got: > snaphome Found 15 mounted dated, snaps or snap archives ?[snapper#2120]base_mp=/home 1 snap dated today. (Use: '--force=force_create_snap' to force another snap.)

Conflict between NT-PDC and Samba 2.0.6
I've got a Solaris 2.6 SPARC system running Samba 2.0.6 and an NT-4.0sp5 PDC system. If Samba is running on the Sun system when the NT PDC is rebooted it (the NT system) complains that there is already another PDC in the domain. This should not be as far as I can see as I've tried specifically to configure the Samba systems not to do this and in fact prior to upgrading to Samba version

NT roaming profiles unable to be updated
We have recently upgraded from Samba 2.0.4 to 2.2.7 on our test machine with a view to using W2K and WXp clients. We are using Samba on Solaris 7 version of Unix. Our client PC's are all NT 4, SP5. We have a default profile for users who login and load the major application (they don't see any of the NT desktop or have access to the Start button). Other users who have access to the desktop

Slow printing/Server authentication
I am running Samba 2.0.6 on HP-UX 10.20. I serve out print services sitewide to a couple of hundred printers. They are networked, jet direct connected. However, they show as local devices on the server (we implemented BSD printing on the HP ourselves). I have up to about 600 users utilizing this service. We use security set to server with an entry for everyone in the password file. The
