Win XP home
Are there special issues when using XP home with Samba?
I have a machine that when trying to log in as the user Mike, the logs show
that it is trying to login in as Mike Barsalou.
I tried making another user mbarsalou but I can't get it to authenticate
properly.
I was thinking it was a feature of XP home.
Anyone have ideas?

Charset
I have upgraded on my debian server from samba 2.2.3 (stable ) to samba
3.0rc4 (unstable).
The only problem that I have on my PDC is that italian character as ? (a') ?
(u') etc. are non treated as they should and this can cause profiles non to
load correctly.
What should I do?

domain master
If I do a 'smbclient -L <sambasever>', I do not see a list of workgroups
or masters. That's because we didn't set Samba up to be master.
If I do a 'smbclient -L <ntserver>', I see:
This machine has a workgroup list:
Workgroup Master

Server Maps by IP but not by Name for Domain Users
Hey all,
I've got an issue with my Samba server. I can't seem to get file shares
to map using Server Name, but I can get them to map using IP Address.
Here is my smb.conf:

server string = Snap Server
timestamp logs = yes
dos filetimes = yes
dos filemode = yes
inherit acls = yes
name cache timeout = 0

Client Disconnects
Hi,
I'm running samba 2.2.7 on redhat advanced server with approximately 40
win2k clients and having a serious problem with the clients.
Intermittently the clients will lose their connection to the server for
approximately 30 seconds. It's like the socket connection is being reset or
something.
Here's a sample output from a client log file:

Severe problem with Samba
Dear All,
we are experiencing severe problems with Samba 2.2.0 (with quota support) running on a
dual processor (400MHz) Sun E450 running Solaris 2.7. This is used as a central file server for
student diskspace, accessed by approx 1200 PCs running NT 4. Up until recently we
experienced some, what we assume to be, loading issues with connections during the middle of
the day being slow.

Profiles replication problems
I experienced some sporadic problem in the profiles replication on Samba
PDC. With the configuration attached in some case when a user log in from a
windows 2000 professional client with all the microsoft patches applied,
recive the error that says that is not possible to load the profile and that
a local profile will be used. No error is detected in samba log with log
level up to 5. The problem

latest version (3.0.2a) on AIX 5.2 ML2 segmentation fault and core dump
First off, let me state that I am not a C programmer at all. I am a programmer in other languages, so I understand the basic configure/make/make install procedure for most GNU packages, and have done it lots of times.
I downloaded the GNU iconv libraries, compiled them and used --prefix=/usr/local/special to keep from replacing the standard AIX libraries. Then I downloaded the 3.0.2a source and

all the procedure until the reboot, bur after the Windows reboot, at the

I: Segfault in Samba
I reveived this message as panic action, of my debian Unstable (Samba 3.0).
Don't look for any solution, as the service is just reloaded, but I hape
that can be useful for debugging.

strange behaviour
Hi folks
I hope someone might be able to shed some light on a problem that I am experiencing with
a Samba server. I installed this server about 2 and a half years ago on a client's site.
The server has been running fine. We are now experiencing two problems which according
to the client occured overnight.
The first problem started about a week and a half ago when they found that when trying
