Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron bridged networking xen connectivity loss
Last problem I had involved changing one character in my configuration
scripts. Really easy once someone showed me what was wrong.
Well I think this issue is just the same. The moment I used apt to
install the Xen kernal and tools I lost internet connectivity. I have
been managing because I can restore connectivity be deleting the bridge

Help on a Nat To Nat soluction - tinc servers won't ping remote clients
Guus, Thank you for your help
(a)>>You said:- First, if you are already using "ip" to assign an address.....
Why should I use "ip route" instead of "route add..."
Surely both write same to the Routing table?
(b) My problem was, that Tinc servers could not ping remote clients, whereas clients could ping successfully across VPNWhen pinging Client to Client

Help on a Nat To Nat soluction - tinc servers won't ping remote clients
Thank you, Parke and Guus.
I have now understood and got it working.
Because of my beginner belief, I assumed that the tinc vpn end points needed to be on the same network.
I have now discovered that the tinc vpn IP end points addresses can be arbitrary, and different!
So I have set the end points to be local to the LAN they connect, and added on each tinc server a dev route to ensure

Help on a Nat To Nat soluction - tinc servers won't ping remote clients
I have a three tinc server setup, similar to "4.3 How Connections Work" using the configuration mostly likehttp://ostolc.org/site-to-site-vpn-with-tinc.html
The clients (Ubuntus, Debians and Windows 10s) can all ping (and SSH) to each other remotely.
As far as that is concerned it's working great - thanks so much for some great software.
However, on each of the Tinc servers (A and

syncing browse lists - it doesn't!
I have 3 domains, A & B on 1 IP subnet, and the C is spread
across 2 subnets. Samba is running on the Linux box
that routes the 2 subnets for domain C. Its joined up
to the C domain, and is in the C workgroup. Its also the
WINS server, and local master (but not Domain Master,
the NT PDC has to be). It serves WINS for all 3 domains.
Domain C (the one Samba lives in) shows in the browse

ADS authentication stopped working
Running Samba mostly on Redhat 5 with version 3.5.4-0.83
Also failed on Debian 3.5.6 and Solaris with a 3.5 version.
Logging details here are from Redhat case.
We have a similar problem on all Unix/Linux systems using
ADS as the backend authentication for samba shares on Unix/Linux.
It was working before today and we didn't change anything.
Today, any time we try smbclient or a Windows drive

'remote browse sync
Is 'remote browse sync' only for syncing browser lists between SAMBA systems. I currently have 'remote browse sync' pointed at a W2K system (browse-master) on another subnet and I see from the nmdb.log that a request was received from that system for ' ...process_name_query_request( ...' and then '... Sending backup list for ...'.

remote browse sync triggers error Packet send failed
Hello,
I need to use WINS browsing to allow Mac computers to list Windows served printers.
Mac clients and Windows print server (Windows 2012R2) are on separate subnets:
- Mac clients on 10.1.0.0/16 subnet
- print server on 10.10.0.0/16 subnet
A Samba server (10.1.10.24) is a master browser on subnet 10.1 and another Samba server (10.10.31.73) is a master browser on subnet 10.10

Remote browse sync, wins, problems...
Hi,
I have a network with three different sites, each with their own
workgroup, each on their own subnet, connected by a VPN.
Each site has a master samba server, acting as a domain master and wins
server. Each site has a mixture of Windows (mostly 2000 professional)
and linux workstations on each workgroup.
I am trying to get all workgroups and all machines viewable in 'network

Browse.dat not syncing
I'm not sure where else to turn for this, I've seen this problem mentioned
in a multiple places but haven't seen any resolution for it. Below is
what's showing up in my remote samba WINS server. My setup is that I've got
the samba servers connecting through a dedicated VPN. I've set up the WINS
to allow for browsing across the VPN. If anyone can help me out or point me

2 servers won't sync browse lists accross network
We've got two samba servers either side of a modem link and I'm trying
to get them to sync browse lists. Using remote sync and friends the
servers try and sync but invariably each time one does the other end

won't sync browse lists accross subnet
Folks,
I'm confused with those whole samba/security thing. I'm running the
latest SAMBA without encryption and default share security. As a
result, I can't get my NT PDC to sync browse lists with my samba
server, which is on a different subnet. I get the following error in
log.nmb:
sync_browse_lists: NT-SERVER0 rejected the browse sync sessionsetup

unable to sync browse lists
I'm having two problems. I encountered the second while trying to set
up a clean environment to work on the first. Can somebody tell me if
(a) I've done something obviously wrong, or (b) this is a known Samba
bug? Any help is appreciated.
John.

Problem with replication ("Fatal: -N parameter requires syncing with remote host")
I have been fighting, for 2 days, with a Dovecot setup and I now
officially need help :)
Basically, I am trying to setup replication between 2 identical Dovecot
servers, on different physical servers (different hostnames/etc, of
course), and although I've managed to solve many problems I can't
overcome the final hurdle.
When a mail comes in to one of the servers, replication over TCP
