Virus scanner not scanning files on samba share
Right now, on our NT servers, I scan the users' directories nightly for viruses. I've set up samba 2.05a on a linux server (rh 6.1). I've moved a couple of users over for testing. Everything seems to be working great. However, I cannot get our virus scanner (Dr Solomon) to scan files on the samba shares. It recognizes the share, recognizes the files, but reports 0 out of nnn were

need help with SafeDelete
Hello Samba Gurus I found a program that I think may be usefull if I can get it to work with Samba. I am using RedHat 6.2 and I found a program included with the PowerTools called safedelete-1.3. I read the man page for safedelete and it mentions creating a system alias "alias rm='/usr/bin/safedelete'" so when you use rm to delete a file it will get backed up to a

Microsoft Mail
Has anyone managed to get a working emulation of Microsoft Mail working on Samba? A number of administrators still use schedule+ via Microsoft Mail to keep room and individual schedules. I'm trying to retire an NT machine and its last function is the Microsoft Mail. Any input would be greatly appreciated. -- David Hamilton Service Manager Business Computer Services Business Administration

pv-grub Solaris support
Hello all, I''ve patched pv-grub to allow it to boot a Solaris PV domU using an unmodified menu.lst. The attached patch has been tested with various Solaris versions (Solaris 11 Express, OpenIndiana 151a, OpenSolaris 134, Nexenta Core 3.0.1; all 64-bit). I appreciate your feedback. The patch consists mainly of Oracle''s grub modifications, which add ZFS support and

m3u - file definition
Hello is there any documentation on the .m3u file definition ? I want to define a .m3u playlist where I have to define the start and end point of the single mp3 file. The .m3u files is supposed to handle multiple tracks from one file. Just with put a tab, start time (seconds), tab, end time (seconds) after the path to mark where it starts and ends in the file. #First Track

legalities of streaming
Where would you find out who's in charge of this in the country you're in (other than just doing it and waiting for letters from lawyers ;) ). Thanks Hans Remco B. legalities of streaming
Hi list, This might not be the right list to bring this subject up on, however I thought it might be a good place to start. What are the current legalities in relation to non commercial music streams, or more accurately put non profit streams, and is this currently being seriously policed? Basically I am wanting to start up my own online station, but I don't really want to get my butt

Windows client
Correct me if I'm wrong, but one thing still lacking in the Windows environment is software which can feed ogg files directly to IceCast2 without encoding. This would be very handy for me right now. Anyone working on anything? An Ices2 for Windows would be ideal. Regards, Ross Levis ==================================== StationPlaylist.com http://www.stationplaylist.com Low-cost music

Problem with %U and %G variables
I have a server running Samba 2.0.5a and RedHat 6.1. I am having a problem with the %U and %G variables. I have two lines in my smb.conf file that read: include = /home/samba/smb.conf.%U include = /home/samba/smb.conf.%G In the /home/samba directory I have a file for each user and their group. For instance, I have a smb.conf.engineering file. When someone from the engineering group goes to the
