xlab=expression(...) won't work.
Dear all,
I found that the plotmath seems won't work on xlab in plot
(and other plot functions including matplot, contour, ...):
> plot(1:10, 1:10, xlab=expression(alpha))
the plot shows nothing for x-label.

Windows 2000
Just curious, has anyone gotten Samba to work with Windows 2000? I've
mucked with it a bit. But can't seem to make it go. I haven't tried
applying the NT 4.0 Registry patches yet I will probably take a look at
them and see if I can get them working with Win2000.
Thanks!

Simulating a commercial SIP provider
Hi all,
The kind of configuration that I use in my sip.conf to connect to
various commercial SIP providers looks like this:
[general]
context=incoming-calls
canreinvite=no
qualify=yes
register => jwinius:passwrd at sip.provider.com/0201234567
[provider]
type=peer
host=sip.provider.com

This works. However, how would I

I've asked this question before, and somebody helped me after
sending my logs. I thank them very much. I've solved these problems but
I still can't join the domain. I cannot see any major problem in the
logs except the logging user cannot be found in the ldap DB but it's there.

samba will disappear from the win2000's network places
Dear all:
I've found one strange things.
I am using Red Hat Linux 5.2 and Samba 2.0.6. (I rebuild the RPM in
RH 5.2) The samba is treated as a Server. Every windows 95/98/NT could
access the samba server without problem.
In windows 2000 RC2 (treated as client), it could access the samba
server. But if I enable the "IP Security Policies on Local Machine".

horrible death and leave a core file. As a result I am unable to use any
netbios services on the machine.
The core file which I have examined says that the process died with

Veto files option not working
We're getting very close now to having our RH6.1 server as we want it.
Just a few anoying things left to iron out so we can trial it properly
prior to going live. One of them is the "veto files" option in
smb.conf. We want to stop users on Win95 clients from seeing (or
deleting) the dot-files in their home shares. I've tried the above
option, I've tried "hide dot

config problem with 1.2.2 on Redhat 6.1 / pam
Hi there!
I have a small - but essential :) - problem with the above configuration. I
compiled the 1.2.2 version straight forward, with almost default settings
(sysconfdir=/etc/ssh)
After that I copied the sshd.pam to /etc/pam.d, generated the host-key and
started sshd

I am attmepting to install ssh/sshd on my RH6.1 Intel Box. Everything
seems to be working (not quite smooth sailing - I had to resort to
precompiled RPM for OpenSSL). I did however get it "working." I
generated a host key as root and then changed back to joe-user. I created

Samba on RedHat 6.1
We're trying to get samba running on a RH 6.1 server installation,

to it after rebooting the NT workstation, but can't see the server in

starting smb services at bootup on x86 RH6.1
I am running RH6.1 on an x86 with 2.0.6 installed with an RPM. I am
confused as to getting smb to start at bootup. It works fine if I start it
manually (/etc/rc.d/init.d/smb start). I swear, the 5.2 installation had
smb start at bootup, but I can't find the difference between the two. Is
the answer

samba 3.0.14 fails on boot, getpwnam cannot find nobody
I have been trying to get a share running for public access to part of a
workstations hard disk. Realise now that this is not possible at
userlevel security without a username, password pair. Part of my playing
around involved creating on the machine user nobody, then setting guest
account = nobody in samba.conf. Once realising i needed a passwrd pair I

LinuxBox can't appear in Net neighbourhood.
I have samba 2.0.5 run on my RH6.1
In windoz,when I use "find computer",I can find it without any difficulty!
Also I can access it using this method!
But I can't see it in network neighbourhood!
I've tried "net view /workgroup=MY_LINUXBOX_DOMAIN",still can't see.
Why?(In my linuxbox,the dns resolve doesn't work.does that matter?)
