Allowed code pages and encodings to write f0.txt through f1.txt?
Hi there. Slackware's installer, that I am internationalizing, makes use of ISOLINUX. I want to give instructions to users in other languages than US English, e.g. which code to type to see installation messages in their native language. So my question are: (1) Which character encodings can be used in message.txt and f1.txt through f1O.txt? (2) Is UTF-8 allowed? (3) I'm guessing that

Problem with mkisofs (i guess :-))
Hello! I have a problem with a bootable cd that i'm trying to make .. The problem is that i don't know what all the mkisofs parameters do and because that weird things happen, if the filenames or directorynames contain spaces they do not open and if i'm in windows's safe mode it gives me an error message stating that the file or folder does not exist! Can anyone help with that?

TRANS.TBL files on Win95 fileserver
I have a small LAN in my basement, with my PC running RH5 Linux and a Win95 PC connected by Samba. Everything works fine, but when I smbmount a CD (burned with xcdroast) from the Linux box (CD is in the Win95 machine) I do not get the proper filenames. All files are uppercase, and the TRANS.TBL files appear to be ignored. I have tried playing with name mangling, but it didn't help. Is this a

pread() failures when using mdbox on btrfs
(Note: I am not subscribed to this ML, so please be sure to CC me in replies.) Hello, I see a strange bug when running dovecot under btrfs with a mailbox in mdbox format. At some point, which can take a few minutes or more than a day, dovecot starts logging pread() failures, like so: Apr 02 23:43:42 thetick dovecot[570]: imap(marcec): Error: pread() failed with file

Installation media has incorrect file names
I have Nancy Drew: The Captive Curse for my daughter and I tried to install using Wine. Installation fails because some of the files have different names on the installation media from that sought by the installer. Here are two examples: Click_AfterThreeBells_02_SFX.HIS which is actually click_afterthreebells_02_s.his on the media. AxInterop.SHDocVw.dll which is actually axinteropshdocvw.dll on

supress access to the /etc/passwd
Hi, I've just install samba 2.2 with ldap support, it is working just fine. I've create some samba users using smbpasswd and they are inserted into the ldap directory. But, I was wondering if it was possible to delegate the full authentification process to ldap. That's to say completely remove any information from /etc/passwd? Thanks. -------------- next part -------------- HTML

Patch: patches for smbmount opton documentation ( smbmount.8.xml )
Hi, I use samba on Linux 2.6 and 2G over size file sharing. It seems smbmount '-o lfs' need to use with large file. but default man page doesn't say this option. I want to edit smbmount.8.xml for lfs and unicode option. I believe using mount.cifs is right way on latest Linux. But one of the implementation smb_clients tools take this lazy option. Is it right way to change of man page

[nbdkit PATCH] iso: Shell-quote an alternative isoprog
Otherwise, a user can do things like "nbdkit iso . prog='date;prog'" to run unintended commands in addition to their alternative isoprog. This is not a CVE (since nbdkit isn't running with any more privileges than the user running those commands themselves), but shows the frailty of relying on the shell to parse subsidiary commands rather than exec()ing them directly.
