Recursive delete problem (Reposted:)
Hi, (I'm reposting this because I was asked to by a subscriber :) I believe I've found a problem that we can reproduce using the latest samba release (2.0.6). It is fairly hard to describe accurately but I will do my best. The bug is present if deleting from a smbmounted point under Linux or from Windows 98 through "Network Neighborhood." All of the users involved are in the

Dovecot on Linux 2.6.0-test1-ac1
Hi all For various reasons I was looking into 2.6, so I installed a copy on my desktop. Everything works fine, except for dovecot - errors such as this appeared in the syslog: Jul 15 14:41:09 typhaon dovecot: Dovecot starting up Jul 15 14:41:12 typhaon imap-login: setuid(113) failed: Resource temporarily unavailable Jul 15 14:41:12 typhaon dovecot: Login process died too early - shutting down I

Samba Bug?
Hi, I've been trying to get in touch with someone to discuss a problem with Samba that I've been experiencing. I can reproduce the bug on the systems for which I am responsible, and am interested to know whether it is a local problem or a genuine bug. (I have searched the archives, updated to the latest Samba release and read the docs :) I posted to this list and have had no replies -

Hooks on folder operations
Hi all, I'm interested in implementing an anti-spam system using bayesian filtering. I had the idea of modifying and IMAP server to assist in training the spam filter. I was thinking of running a program whenever a message in moved to the folder "Spam" or to a "Safe" folder. This could be easily added to the server as a generic feature, with hook programs for: * new

How to get podcasters to adopt Speex?
Ok here is something I couldn't see on the description page. We need to convert to 8 bit audio right? I'm assuming narrow band is 8 KHz 8 bit. Wide band is 16 KHz 8 bit. UW band is 32 KHz 8 bit audio? How to get podcasters to adopt Speex?
This is a really good point, and definitely a recurring theme on this mailing list. :) I wonder, what are some better options for handling this issue, other than to keep saying "just use 8/16/32kHz"? - Extend Speex to support other sample rates (seems unlikely..?) - Integrate a resampling algorithm into libspeex - Maintain a list of recommended resampling libraries that work well

Recover data from ext3 filesystem
Hello everyone, I came back from a long vacation the other day to a RH 7.3 system that would not boot. My situation is similar to Eddy's post "Seriously corrupt ext3 root filesystem - help?" from a couple of days ago. I can mount the drive in read-write and read-only modes. I can get into some of the directories and get certain files off of the disk. But, if I try to access a

How to get podcasters to adopt Speex?
Please consider using 16-bit 16kHz (wideband) instead. It's a huge increase in audio quality and the bitrate is still very low, especially if you take advantage of Speex features such as VBR. 8kHz seems totally inappropriate to me for desktop streaming audio, let alone 8-bit samples. Or perhaps your recording equipment is an original Sound Blaster from 1989? (Even that could record at

How bad is "rm -rf /" ?
Dear All, Suppose I executed the command rm -rf / on my CentOS 7 box. After it did what it could, how much damage will be done to what I have (or _had_ rather ;-) on my hard drive? I'm going to describe simple experiment which was prompted in another thread. I need to say a few words before I do it, however. First of all, that other thread was about doing the same thing on UEFI machine.

serving speex without a server
On my personal web pages hosted by my ISP I have a collection of speex files with names ending, as usual, in '.spx'. My ISP does not provide for scripting or CGI but thanks to the "Home-Brew Streaming" idea of Dr Tak Auyeng, www.drtak.org/teaches/ARC/speex/, my friends with Windows XP can listen to such a recording without the need for a prior download of the whole file and

[LLVMdev] LLVM on Cygwin: why tests don't run
Good evening, Csaba! I think rather, Cygwin does not need to know what PATHEXT would be. A patch(0001) is attached. Another patch is for unittests. Lit does not find *Tests.exe in unittests on ToT. 2010/12/24 Csaba Raduly <rcsaba at gmail.com>: > P.S. > With the above change, "make check-all" starts to run. Patches
As the freeze for Debian sarge slowly approaches I want to make sure the Dovecot packages are in as good condition as possible. I see there have been a number of patches since 0.99.10. I have added the following patches: * segfault when user home directory is empty * Proper PAM service name * Make suid work on 2.6 kernels Any other patches thatI ought to add. Or better yet, will there be a

[nbdkit PATCH 1/4] server: Fix regression for NBD_OPT_INFO before NBD_OPT_GO
Most known NBD clients do not bother with NBD_OPT_INFO (except for clients like 'qemu-nbd --list' that don't ever intend to connect), but go straight to NBD_OPT_GO. However, it's not too hard to hack up qemu to add in an extra client step (whether info on the same name, or more interestingly, info on a different name), as a patch against qemu commit 6f214b30445: | diff --git

GTA3 problems
I'm using the current cvs version of wine and have been using Grand Theft Auto 3 for a month or so with only a few issues. After updating and recompiling wine last night I encountered a pretty major problem, cut scenes refuse to end. They play through alright, but when it comes to the end of the scene the game doesn't resume. Out of curiosity I backed up my ~/.wine directory and used

still getting weird .{inbox} folder creations with latest -test7
Hi, I am still getting strange creation and mailbox lookups from 0.99.11-test7. dovecot creates in ~/Maildir/ .INBOX/ .imap.index .imap.index.cache .imap.index.log .customflags dovecot-uidlist .INBOX seems to be a reference to ~/Maildir/{cur,new,tmp} yet I

Samba vs PAM
Hello.. I wonder, in which way Samba supports PAM? I downloaded samba-2.0.6-19991110 and there I found in changelog it's compiled with --with-pam.. My desire is to authenticate Samba users against Novell NDS. I managed to do this (under Linux) with many programs but Samba somehow resists :) I put something like this into /etc/pam.d/samba : auth required

Should c(..., recursive = TRUE) and unlist(x, recursive = TRUE) recurse into expression vectors?
Reading the body of function 'AnswerType' in bind.c, called from 'do_c' and 'do_unlist', I notice that EXPRSXP and VECSXP are handled identically in the recurse = TRUE case. A corollary is that c(recursive = TRUE) and unlist(recursive = TRUE) treat expression vectors like expression(a, b) as lists of symbols and calls. And since they treat symbols and calls as

how to override hostname
I am trying to test stand alone puppet manifests invoking /usr/bin/ puppet. Is there a way to override current hostname with some other value? How to configure?
Killed glfsheal, after a day there were 218 processes, then they got killed by OOM during the weekend. Now there are no processes active. Trying to run "heal info" reports lots of files quite quickly but does not spawn any glfsheal process. And neither does restarting glusterd. Is there some way to selectively run glfsheal to fix one brick at a time? Diego Il 21/03/2023 01:21,

How to configure?
In glfsheal-Connection.log I see many lines like: [2023-03-13 23:04:40.241481 +0000] E [MSGID: 104021] [glfs-mgmt.c:586:glfs_mgmt_getspec_cbk] 0-gfapi: failed to get the volume file [{from server}, {errno=2}, {error=File o directory non esistente}] And *lots* of gfid-mismatch errors in glustershd.log . Couldn't find anything that would prevent heal to start. :( Diego Il 21/03/2023
