configure can't find ldap_initialize on HP-UX 11i
I'm basically using the instructions found in the HP-UX readme with the exception that I am trying to use the version of openldap that is in iexpress instead of the one from hpux.cs.utah.edu. The recommendations listed in the doc are: HP-UX 11.00 and 11.11: OpenLdap 2.1.3 (http://hpux.cs.utah.edu) OpenSSL 0.9.7d (http://hpux.cs.utah.edu) HP-UX 11.23 only: ixOpenLdap

Fwd: RE: Newbie Configuration of 2.2.3a on HP-UX 11.0
It's good choice if You first upload Your version of samba with new version http://www.hp.com/products1/unix/operating/hpuxcifs9000/ (Cifs is SAMBA for HP-UX). I use this samba configuration and I have no problem: I suggest You to change security option in security = USER this is better and more secure.Security=share is option for old samba ! You must create unix users , samba users and

Newbie Configuration of 2.2.3a on HP-UX 11.0
I have installed Samba with a depot I downloaded from the HP-UX Porting and Archive Center. We have an intranet site on an HP-UX 11.0 box, and ultimately, my goal is to have links on the Web pages open up files (Word docs, etc.) on various Windows machines (XP, 2000, NT). I'm having difficulty getting Samba to work at all. I've scoured past newsgroup posts, and I'm not finding

Problem with rsync on WinXP going to HP-UX or Linux
Hi, I can't get rsync from a PC to an HP-UX or Linux box to work, and am hoping for a pointer or two. I checked the FAQ and googled ... with no luck, so I hope this isn't a patently obvious newbie problem :) I just got interested in trying to use rsync to backup my WinXP PC to a Linux or HP-UX computer. I got the cygwin package from Robert Scholten's site at

HP-UX 11i and largefiles on rsync
For all you folks out there using rsync on HP-UX, be warned that HP-UX is still broken with regard to large files. I opened a bug report with HP last year, as described here: http://lists.samba.org/archive/rsync/2004-July/010226.html I've been periodically checking on the status and today I was told that it's been officially filed as a "we won't fix this", citing that the

openssh-2.3.0p1: problem with configure
I have two problems with configure in 2.3.0p1: zlib is installed in /usr/local on HP-UX 11.00, and configure fails to detect that. Worse, after "setenv LDFLAGS -L/usr/local/lib" configure is happy, but during make the zlib include file is not found. "setenv CFLAGS -I/usr/local/include" fixes that, but I feel that configure could be that smart too. Regards, Ulrich

Samba problems with HP-UX
Hello, I'm Jeff P. Nuebel with Rockwell - Collins in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. We run a large mixed network of Solaris, HP-UX, linux, NT, w2k, and XP. After testing/deploying 2.2.2 to 400+ workstations from 2.0.6 to 2.2.x, in order for W2K and XP to see there home accounts living on departmental UNIX production workstation, we have ran into problems on the HP-UX side of the fence with Windows 2k
