Samba problems after intalling ncpfs
Hi!
My problem is that Samba doesn't work after installing ncfs.
I have Samba 1.9.18p10 and ncpfs 2.0.10.
I've succesfully installed ncpfs. After that I check it by "slist"
and get my Novell server. I mount Novell volume by ncpmount - all ok.
But after that my Samba doesn't work. I can see Samba/Linux box

slightly OT Win98 DNS question
I've got a W98/Samba LAN running with a 3Com OfficeConnect LANModem for
shared internet access. Periodically, like every 10 minutes, it dials
out, due to a DNS request for the workgroup/domain (same) name.
Any fix for this? Can I just put a dummy address in all the host files?

returning the largest element in an array/matrix?
Hi all,
I want to use "which.max" to identify the maximum in a 2D array/matrix and I
want "argmin" and return the row and column indices.
But "which.max" only works for vector...
Is there any convinient way to solve this problem?
Thanks a lot!

username case
I've had several instances now on my mixed NT 3.51/4.0/Samba
network where clients on Win boxes would enter a username
such as "THisbites", and be denyed access. The account in
/etc/password was capitalized as "THisbites" and the NT
domain account shows in User Manager as "THisbites".
Nonetheless, Samba refuses them access, and claims (on
a debug level3 ) that

samba-2.0.7pre2 will Sig11 and die on me right after processing
NetBIOS name = FOO in smb.conf.
Not always, but sometimes I have to start smbd 2 or 3 times.
It always fails there.
Any reason why 2.0.7pre2 would do this, and 2.0.6 (from rpm)
never did?

directory mode + force directory mode = ???
Can anyone give a brief, english synopsis of how this
works? I must be missing something obvious, or maybe
there IS a need to have 2 similarly labelled config options.
Or maybe I'm lost in the goldbergian method that this applies
permissions (take the real perms, bitwise OR them with the
mask, then apply all the permissions NOT given, etc. etc.)
Help a dummy?

W95 speed issue
Hello all, I've got a W95 box connected via crossover to a 2.2.12
RH 6.0 linux box, running 2.0.3 samba.
Writes to samba from Win explorer are around 450 K/sec.
Reads from samba to Windows using Explorer are around 8 K/sec.
Using the smb version of tcpdump, I see between a .200 and .220
second lag between packets. smbd is nowhere near the top of my
"top" list output in linux.

Installing Centos5 into Solaris-Xen DomU
I have posted in http://vireso.blogspot.com my notes about installing
Centos5 (from DVD image) into DomU on OpenSolaris Xen
(xen-nv66-2007-06-24).
Using OpenSolaris for Dom0 gives such advantage as zfs zvols for "phy"
devices in DomUs, so zfs snapshot & zfs send gives you incredible fast
and convenient full/incremental backup/restore of full DomUs.

How to add two different axis to one plot?
Hi all,
I need to put two different axis to one plot. On the top of the plot, I need
to put one axis, with increments from left side to the right side; then at
the bottom of the same plot, I need to put another axis, with increments
from right side to the left side and showing a different unit. How do I do
that?
By the way, is there a "hold" command for plotting?
If I first plot a
