domain logins for NT Workstation in 2.0.7?
Was having problems getting NT Workstation to see the samba server
as the PDC and do domain logins (Win9x does just fine). Then found
this comment in Sam's Teach Yourself Samba in 24 hours with regard
to configuring a samba PDC:
"You need to configure the server to be in user-level security and you
must enable password encryption. There is no way around either of
these settings."

fax serving
Newbie question:
I have successfully set up a samba server for file & print sharing. What I'm
not sure about is how to set up a fax server. Has anyone tried to do this?
What all do you have to do, or maybe you could just point me in the right
direction.

Doubts about sharing a winprinter

Annoying Printer problem...Samba 2.2.7a on Debian 3.0 with lprng
Hi all,
Have got Winbind working again successfully on another box, but this time
the printer won't work, it worked fine last time.
The printer installs fine, and it lets me print to it, but nothing comes out
on the printer, no sign of anything being sent to it.
I think it's a permissions problem or something...but I've not much clue
when it comes to printing on *nix how it actually

Hi List,
is it really necessary to add every user to the administrators group to
allow them to update their windows boxes? I really can't believe this...

Upgrade from 3.8.15 to 3.12.5
I believe the peer rejected issue is something we recently identified and
has been fixed through https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1544637
and is available in 3.12.6. I'd request you to upgrade to the latest
version in 3.12 series.

cupsaddsmb fails - files are not copied
Hello,
i have problems getting the automatic driver installation for windows
clients running.
i am using cupsaddsmb, it creates the WIN40 Directory and tells me its
putting files - but the Directory remains empty - and thats, so i
guess, the reason for the rpccleint command failing (DOS error
0x00000042 smth.)
what am i doing wrong?

Help to a wet-behind-the-ears Linux newbie
Hi :-)
I am struggling through a RH 8.0 install on a machine we are looking to
replace our Netware server. I got tapped to do this as I support the
Graphics Deparment Mac OS ASIP server (running over 2 years now without a
crash and no outage except for general maintenance).
I am attempting to set up SAMBA to provide file sharing for our Windows
clients (something not for the faint of heart,

2 quest.: cups - samba and ACL under HPUX
Hi,
I have tried to use cups and samba together. Everything works
great, however I am not able to configure and/or setup
samba correctly, that the clients are able to install
the driver.
To test everything I used a dedicated system installed
a fresh SuSE 8.0 and compiled samba (2.2.4) and
cups (1.1.14). I only userd a differnet prefix for
samba. Everything else is default.

Printing under Wine - Mission Impossible?
Hello,
I've been trying to print under apps running with wine for a while.
In wine docs it says wine automatically detect CUPS printer. Well, I have
CUPS installed, everything prints great, except apps running under wine,
which say that no printers are installed.
CUPS version installed. Debian woody version - 1.1.14.3
Wine version installed. Prepackaged Deb 20021013.

Printing woes
Hi,
I've been using Samba for a while, and I'm now running all network
printing here from Samba. However, while printing itself works fine, my
users can neither view the print queue, nor delete jobs from it, and
this is beginning to get annoying. I'm using LPRng to do all the
printing. All the clients are NT4 workstations. Here's some selected
bits of /etc/smb.conf and

2.1.0a for Macs (PR#7952)
I am writing regarding serious problems that a number of
researchers at a workshop held by the Smithsonian Tropical
Research Institute are encountering with the most recent R
version for Macs (the patched version of 2.1.0 (2.1.0a) that
you indicate should be used over 2.1.0).
The following problems are not specific to my computer but are
being experienced by ALL Mac users at this workshop
