Problem delivering files
Hello samba people I do not know if it is a bug, but a problem indeed: we have a Sun running solaris 2.7 samba 2.0.6) and NT clients AND a HSM Filesystem called samfs. This keeps data on tapes, and 16kB on disk. A client request a file can leed into grabbing a tape and bring back the data online to disk. 1) NFS Client waits for data until it's coming, even 1 day 2) (NT)/smbclient gets 16k

"disappeared" user
I would really appreciate some help figuring out why one of my students has "disappeared" from the user list, and what to do about it. I'm using Samba3 on Fedora; the client machines are running WinXP. The system has been up and running since the beginning of September. Today one of my 4th-graders was unable to log on; she didn't read the error message carefully, so she

CD sharing via iso9660, mounted, and samba
I have installed a small Limux box in my local primary school, in order to sahre CD iso images. The system works fine, untill several w/s's concurrently access the same program , whereupon, we get spurious crashes. I have tried disableing op-locks, which seemed to help, but only slightly. Any suggestions gratefully received. Shane oplock_break: no break received from client within 30

receive_smb: SMB Signature verification failed on incoming packet
Hello, I am trying to connect a 2nd Linux machine to my Samba PDC using smbmount. Both machines run Samba 3.0.14a. However, when trying to mount using machine2# /usr/local/samba/bin/smbmount //pdc/wpkg /raid/samba/mount -o username=abc,password=123 it takes some seconds and then only brings up an I/O error. The log on the primary machine brings up [2005/07/19 10:28:36, 1, effective(1008,

smbd does not run from inetd
Hello, I've a problem with Samba version 2.0.6, where smbd does not start from inetd. nmbd starts from inetd and "smbd -D" works fine as well. And I didn't have that problem with 2.0.4b. The following is an extraction of the smb.log, which shows an "read_socket_data: recv failure for 4. Error = Invalid argument" error. Regarding this problem, what is the difference
