Session Request Failed?
I have three systems that I want to be able to use samba to share files and printers: 1. leopard --- a SuSE 6.2 samba server 2. cs198787-a --- a win98 box 3. cougar --- an old 386 running WfWg All systems are connected and were happily sharing successfully until I noticed last week that I could no longer print from the linux box to the win98 box. The print files just disappeared. So after

Bouncing Mail???
Ever since last night all mail from the samba list has been bouncing. I'm out of ideas...does anyone have a suggestion on what to fix. I've attached the mail notification. It seems like sendmail does think that lists.samba.org exists but I can do a successful lookup? how to stop WfWG local browse master announcements?
this isn't strictly a samba question, but it is related in that i'm trying to a samba server as my domain master browser and multiple samba servers as local master browsers for a workgroup across multiple subnets. everything seems to be working wonderfully except for one WfWG host which does not show up in the browse list as expected. i notice that this host is announcing itself as a

cannot access samba from WfWg running trumpet winsock
Hi all! Here is my problem: I have installed RedHat Linux version 6.0 on a computer and I want to share its resources via samba. Unfortunately, my computer - which is running WfWg 3.11 for Eastern Europe and the trumpet winsock TCP/IP stack is not able to see the samba server. Other computers, running Win95, Linux and WfWg with M$ TCP/IP stack perform OK. I have tried the following combinations:

Does anyone know why sometimes a PDC appears in the Network neigborhood, and sometimes it doesn't?
The subject says it all, I think. At home I have a PDC (Linux with Samba), and I have Win98 and Win 95(!) clients. And sometimes the domain name (workgroup name) is visble in the Network neigborhood, and sometimes it is not. I also got the impression that placing a link in the file NETHOOD makes a difference, but I am not sure yet. The PDC is visible, that is, it can be PINGed, I can connect

Windows 3.1 and Samba
Has anybody got some experience with connecting machines running Windows3.1 or WfWG (3.11) to Samba? We would like to run a small lab network with user accounts and a shared printer off the samba box. Samba is running fine and there's no problem to connect to it from the Win95/WinNT machines... Any help appreciated. Frank Wornle, Glasgow Caledonian University Dept. of Engineering

DFS root only works for more recent Windows clients
I've been testing DFS roots and I'm finding that while Vista and 2008 Server clients can connect with no problems, Windows XP Pro and 2003 Server clients fail. This seems like it's the wrong way round - Samba usually has more difficulties with recent Windows versions than older ones - but I can only assume that there's some registry/policy change between the versions. If anybody

NT machines can't see each other
I recently set up Samba on a sparc 2 running sun os 4.1.3. It's set up as the browse master. We have a few PC's running NT, 95, & 98. On the NT machines, only the unix box shows up in the network neigborhood. Win95 & 98 are a little weirder: some machines show up and others don't. Any ideas on where to start? I've read the browsing docs and everything looks correct.

Samba 2.2.8a Print Driver Issues Solaris 8
Hi; I've reciently upgraded 3 print servers on Solaris 8 from Samba 2.0.9 to 2.2.8a and am running in to difficulties related to clients being able to configure printer drivers. I do not use the [print$] for serving up drivers to install from the print server. I provide access to drivers from a common share from the Microsoft Domain the print servers participate in. I'm still using the
