Novell client caused Domain Logons to crash NT
I am trying to get domains logons going for and NT network. Samba is running fine, and the NT station I have started with joined the domain without any issues - except of course that I can't log on to the server. When I change the logons to the domain rather that the workstation in the IntranetWare logon client, it crashes the NT box (blue screen, winlogon.exe fatal error, etc.). Has anyone

access to subdirs of share only
Hi, I've upgraded from 2.2.8a-SuSE PDC to 3.04-SuSE. OS is Linux 2.6, SuSE 9.1 Prof. All users can logon correctly on all W2K domain clients and obtain their roaming profiles. Now particular W2K SP 4 domain client cannot access to the top-level of a share, WinExplorer says "Access denied". If the client connects to a subdir of the same share as a new drive all works fine, same

That's problem. AHCI is the standard for SATA, running modern SATA drives, especially SSD require the AHCI command structure. Running modern SATA drives in IDE (ATA) mode is not readily supported. -Jason -- -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- - - - Jason Pyeron PD Inc.

Problem with "password server" setup. What is *SMBSERVER?
I have Samba 1.9.18p3 running under Solaris 2.6. I'm trying to use my sites PDC (running under NT) as the password server for this installation. For the most part this is working correctly. However, I have a few users that have changed their NT/Novell (We run Novell Intranetware) passwords and found that they could no longer access Samba drives off the Solaris box. Experimenting found that

Alignment Member Functions should be Virtual
Dear community, I have developed a backend of new 32-bit RISC ISA, which does not have unaligned memory access instructions (e.g., LWL, LWR, SWL, and SWR in MIPS). Since char and short variables are not 32-bit alignment, these variables cannot be correctly accessed. Therefore, alignment member functions, especially getCharAlign() and getShortAlign() of TargetInfo class in

line breaks
I have a question about the function of line feeds/carriage returns in an all linux (R, vi to write scripts) environment. In my scripts I have a few functions, using { or ( to wrap commands on the next line. Usually this is fine, but sometimes R appears confused by line wrappings (more likely of course it is me who is confused). I tried ';' to explictly break the line, but no dice. An

[LLVMdev] AMD IL Code Generator Backend for OpenCL
I am proud to announce that AMD is Open Sourcing AMDIL Code Generator for LLVM 2.9. While this version is not for uptake into LLVM mainline, it does build and is compatible with LLVM 2.9. This is the first step of the process, so I know there will be issues that show up. In the next few months, we will be providing more unit tests and an LLVM 3.0 compatible version, and finally a TOT version for

writer/researcher needs your help
Dear Colleague, I am writing to ask your help for a book I am writing about Life Practices. I am looking for examples of those simple things that we all do that are essential to expressing and maintaining our values as we face life's ups and downs - our Life Practices. What I am seeking is a bit like folklore. Something with a story and an easy to remember slogan or catchphrase. I am asking

OCFS and multipathing
I've got my RAC cluster running pretty smoothly now (thanks again for all the help so far), but I only have single connections between the servers and the RAID array. The servers each have two Qlogic HBAs, and I'd like to find out if there's any reasonable way to implement multipathing. The platform is RHEL 3, and Red Hat's knowledgebase indicates that they strongly recommend

MultipleUsersOnConnection, WTSE
There is a new regedit file in Samba 2.0.6 for Windows Terminal Server Edition that sets a MultipleUsersOnConnection value to 1. I can't find any documentation about this regedit in the source package or using a search of the Samba website. In Micro$oft's knowledgebase articles Q190162, Q233082, Q231798 and Q191370, it would appear that the value should be set to 0 rather than 1 for the

USB to SATA / eSATA adapter compatibility
Hi all, Does anyone know if this USB to SATA / e-SATA adapter will work on Linux? http://www.vantecusa.com/front/product/view_detail/266 Their website and knowledgebase doesn't say anything about it, so I'm checking the list to try my luck :) -- Kind Regards Rudi Ahlers

New Forum
How do people feel about eliminating the list serv in favor of the forum? Or limiting the list serv to news? I have one vendor I work with that has a knowledgebase, a forum, and two mailing lists - with much overlap of topics. It is truly enough to drive you totally crazy. I'm not suggesting anything. Just bringing it up. Geoff
