Bizarre multi-homed name resolution with nmbd?
Hi,
I connected a multi-homed Win95 machine (carrot, see below) to two
networks (ankh-net and morpork-net) which a multi-homed Linux machine
running Samba 1.9.18p10 (or whatever the latest <2 is) was also connected
to (vimes) and wanted to see which of the two interfaces Win95 would

Bug#450660: logcheck: acpid rules do not filter enough
Package: logcheck
Version: 1.2.63
Severity: minor

Hi,
There was recently a modification to filter acpid stuffs.
But there are still things not filtered by logcheck.
When I unplugg, then plug back my battery, I get following notifications:

IC3/FBI security announcement - your help needed
On Friday, the IC3 (FBI/NW3C/BJA) put out a security advisory on their
website that contained a fairly vaguely worded warning about Asterisk
systems being compromised and then being used as "vishing" (voice
phishing) platforms. They were non-specific on the threat other than
to advocate upgrading to "newer versions" of Asterisk. This
announcement was done on Friday

panel data analysis possible with mle2 (bbmle)?
Dear R community,
I want to estimate coefficients in a (non-linear) system of equations using
'mle2' from the "bbmle" package. Right now the whole data is read in as just
one long time series, when it's actually 9 cross sections with 30 observations
each. I would like to be able to test and correct for autocorrelation but
haven't found a way to do this in this package.

Connecting to 1.9.18p10 from DOS boot diskette
I'm trying to connect to aSamba 1.9.18p10 share on my HP-UX 10.20 host, using an MS-DOS boot diskette (well, actually a Windows 95 boot diskette, but relying on the DOS-style protocol stack, etc.).
When I issue the same username and password that I use to connect to that share from my Windows NT client, I get an invalid password message.
Two things come to mind: is the DOS client sending my

Installation of R-1.4.1 on Solaris 2.7
I am trying to install R-1.4.1 on the Solaris 2.7 OS by compiling the
source code. Unfortunately, I obtain a fatal error during make
(apparently while using gcc to compile arithmetic.c). The configure
command seemed to work acceptably (end of output follows).

Bandwidth limiting a MASQed network.
Hi!
I just recently entered the wonderful world of the so called "advanced
routing" and decided to try and limit the bandwidth of a MASQed network
here and ended up in trouble :(.
The setup is (as far as I can tell) pretty straightforward. eth0 is
connected to the "real" network with a proper IP, and eth2 is 192.168.10.x
(the MASQed network). All of it is basicly right out of

clarification on ipsec and masqing
Hi,
Just seeking some clarification on the current state of play with masqing
ipsec connections.
I have a client who establishs many different outbound ipsec connections. So
thats - many local clients, through linux firewall, to many different ipsec
''servers''.
they currently assign a public ip for outbound nat to each user to connect
out to the ipsec connection, so we have a one

SYSLINUX PXE LOCALBOOT Bitlockers
do you mean it cant be circumvented from the perspective of syslinux or TPM? Sadly firmware exploits are rampant. Core Security has good research on this as phrack...
SMM can be gotten to by far too much. Tho if you are targeted by that skill level then going to ic3 might be good idea.

[LLVMdev] LLVMdev Digest, Vol 84, Issue 44
Chris,
good to see the AbstractType stuff vaporize, but I still
have a question, the Type system seems to have
a "shadow type" system, every user Type created also has a
corresponding XYZValType, is the "shadow type"
system still retained ? It's purpose seems(?) to be for factoring
the "unique-ing" logic out of the rest of the type

masqing a zone connected _via_ a tun.
Folk,
My network is described and illustrated here.
http://carnot.yi.org/NetworksPage.html
To allow Cantor and Dalton, in the vpn zone connected to
Joule through tun0, to SMTP to my ISP, I tried this in
/etc/shorewall/masq.
#INTERFACE SOURCE ADDRESS PROTO PORT(S) IPSEC MARK
eth0 tun0
Shorewall complains.

complex; ifb, masq et omnia
Hi all.
I''m using Jamal''s ifb virtual interface from new kernel. Redirecting incoming
traffic from external interface like that:
# tc [blahbla] match u32 0 0 flowid 1:0 action mirred egress redirect dev ifb0
to ifb to shape it.
The problem is that I''m using MASQUERADE by netfilter also. That redirected
traffic coming from internet gets to ifb _before_ DNAT is done.
