c/c++ Random Number Generators Benchmarks using OpenMP
Dear R gurus, I am interested in permutations-based cpu-intensive methods so I had to pay a little attention to Random Number Generators (RNG). For my needs, RNGs have to: 1) be fast. I profiled my algorithms, and for some the bottleneck was the RNG. 2) be scalable. Meaning that I want the RNG to remain fast as I add threads. 3) offer a long cycle length. Some basic generators have a

Hi All, I have been using samba 2.2.1a as the PDC, as a logon server for about 100 machines. Till now it has been fine, But for last 2 days all of sudden the trust relationship is lost from few random machines. Then we again have to reregister with SAMBA domain. When first time one m/c logins these are the logs. ############## [2002/10/24 09:58:55, 0]

Signal 11 in smbd 3.0.2rc2 on printer operation!
Our computers in our office ceased being able to print to a shared cups printer today. Could not find the cause. Seems the smbd processes are dying. Below is the stack trace produced by gdb bt full. The Samba 'panic action' script, /usr/share/samba/panic-action, was called for pid 5839 (/usr/opt/samba-3.0.2rc2/sbin/smbd). 0x40150a59 in wait4 () from /lib/libc.so.6 #0 0x40150a59 in

External pointers and changing SEXPTYPE
Dear Developers, I've been struggling through writing R extension in C. I've been using an external pointer to store my data (please see sample below). I encountered a very weird erroneous behaviour: when I tried to use my external pointer to a structure holding several types of data, including SEXPs, I discovered that SEXPs change their types between returning from initialization

subset point data set by distance ranges
Greetings I'm using R 2.8 with recent (last month) versions of the packages I need to use at present. I'm interested in examining hierarchical spatio-temporal patterns in a data set. The data consist of 94 points (X, Y, UTM coordinates) at which catch rates for a fish were recorded and there are also estimates of prey available for these fish at the same locations.

TR : Probs with paste
Thanks for the messages. What I probably should have explained is that I have a data.frame "file" with variables named "A", "B", etc.. I wanted to use paste () to pull the names "file$A", "file$B", etc. and stick them in table() and so get an output of table(file$A). For the record, someone read my thinking and sent the following solution which

[ANNOUNCE] xorg-server 1.5.99.903
Here's what I'm hoping will be the server 1.6 release. Unless someone finds a brown-paper-bag bug in the next few days, I'll tag this as 1.6 and push it out soon. There are a few patches which were nominated but left out of this release, those added functionality which I thought should be left to the next release. -keith Aaron Plattner (1): Query the DDX in
