Hi all, I'm considering upgrading my Samba server (originally Mandrake 7.2, but bears little resemblance to it anymore) from 2.0.10 to 2.2.8. I'm wondering if I'll be gaining anything in the upgrade in the way of performance, management, etc. It's a pretty simple enviro handling a few shares - home dirs, public share, etc - and probably won't grow to much more than that.

Running RH6.0 I am able to print just fine from linux, the problem now is getting smb printing working. I am using an Intel Netport Express PRO/100 printserver. Previous to my upgrade from RH5.2 when I had the printer directly connected to the samba server, I was able to print just fine from the windows client machines (not using the raw method) My /etc/printcap is as follows ##PRINTTOOL3##

Running recent cvs from head branch, attempting to list shares on a machine running win2k. Can anyone tell what is wrong here. It does have several shares including a printer. I need to be able to access my Samba network from a DOS floppy. Obviously it must be a tcp/ip client rather than netbeui. Any pointers on doing this? I am sharing some printers attached to Win95 boxes, and would like to be able to do more than connect from Linux with smbclient and print via translate. I would like to be able to specify a printcap entry for these so as to be able to print from pine or lynx or Netscape (when I get X running here at work). Folks, A remote admin is trying to add a contractor account to our NT domain with limited rights. Unfortunately, everytime the contractor account is removed from the DomainUsers group, the contractor encounters the following: \\nt-nfs-md\IPC$ and the infamous invalid password. I cannot print to my Samba-printer from Win NT. Printing works fine under X-windows. What could be wrong? //Michael

I just ran into a completely unexpected problem. It appears that the Kingston SOHO Hubs don't do TCP. They do NETBEUI very well. After 4 hours of troubleshooting I went home and got my cheap Bay Networks 8 port hub and everything worked. This is to hopefully prevent others from running into the same problem. Nothing on Kingstons site mentions no TCP support but swapping only the hub worked
