What linux distro most popular for Asterisk
Is there a recent survey of that Linux distro and version people are using for the Asterisk installations? I recall seeing a pie chart over a year ago (I think on a wiki but I can't find it again)....also hoping for something more current.
I suspect RH5 and RH6 are most popular...but I'm looking for facts

Script for removing stale sessions: version for RH6.0? [Offtopic?]
Hello, people at SAMBA list.
I'm going thru the same problem that Nicholas Williams has
described in samba-list first (see references below), and I'm implementing
the solution you've decribed in the list
(SO_KEEPALIVE, etc). But I'm stuck with the script issue, as I run RedHat
Linux 6.0 which doesn't use ksh but pdksh instead. The ksh script doesn't
run in pdksh

Error while set mailQuota=0 with mbox and LDAP backend
Hi, all.
I have OpenLDAP(+qmail.schema), Dovecot, Postfix installed on RHEL 5.1
(x86_64), and they works fine with mbox format.
The problem is if i set 'mailQuota=0' in LDAP, postfix can't send mail
to recipient user. But it works fine with 'mailQuota != 0', such as
'10240'(10M).
What's wrong with my mail server setting? How can i solved this issue?
Thanks very

Getting RH6.0/Samba 2.0.5a to join NT domain
I've used exactly that combination, and the domain join worked without a hitch.
I had to go in as NT domain admin and create a server/workstation entry in
Server Manager first, of course.

Samba/RH6.0 file locking problems?
I hope that someone can help me with this because I'm at a loss.
I have a Samba server running RH 5.2 w/all errata plus Samba 2.03 that is
used, among other things, to serve a share for a Windows program called
"Business Works" which is a network accounting package. This program uses
the standard Windows range-locking to implement it's network capability.
I have been using this

RH6.0/Samba Oplock Problems (and fix)
To any one who is using Red Hat Linux 6.0 (or, presumably, any glibc2.1
system)
I recently installed a new RH 6.0 system on Intel. After installing my
samba and my network application I noticed that I was experiencing oplock
problems that were not present with the same version of Samba on my RH 5.2
systems and caused my application to not function. Since the problem
seems to be with oplocks I

segfault on Sparc Linux (RH6.0)
We are having problems building R on Red Hat Linux 6.0/Sparc.
R compiles with no problem but then it fails "make tests".
Specifically, the line
eigen(cbind(-1,c(1:2,0),0:2)) # complex values
causes a segmentation fault. Previous versions of Red Hat Linux
did not give this problem.
The eigen() function is one of the rare cases in the base library where
Fortran code is called via the

smbtar question?
Hi all,
I want to move a filesystem off of my NT server over to my Network
Appliance NFS server to then be shared via Samba. I assume the easiest
way to accomplish this would be to use smbtar. Do I then
use smbtar to extract the tar file I create with smbtar, or, can I use
gnutar? Does it matter? Am I safer sticking with smbtar?
I'm guessing that since smbtar is a wrapper around

smbtar skips files, why?
Hello,
I'm using Samba version 1.9.18p10.
I am trying to backup a Win95 disk with smbtar, but it skips lots of files
without any apparant reason. For example, I have a directory C:\Acrobat3,
with various subdirectories. With smbclient I can see and browse them just
fine:
smb: \> cd Acrobat3
smb: \Acrobat3\> dir

smbtar cannot recognize space character in filename
Hi. My friend has a problem that smbtar cannot recognize space character
in specified filenames. He tried to execute following command line
to back file "long file name" up:
$ smbtar -s SERVER -p PASSWORD -x SHARE -u username -t /tmp/backup.tar \
"long file name"
but smbtar tried to include three files as 'long', 'file' and 'name'. :-(

smbtar help needed
I am attempting to pipe the output of smbtar into gzip in a script. The
problem that I have is that smbtar echo's out "Params count: 11" before
sending the information out to gzip. This causes the tar file to have a
"tar: directory checksum error" error. Is there any way I can get smbtar
not to report the Params count? The following is the command I am using.

Does smbtar have a size limit ?
Hello. I'm trying to use smbtar/smbclient (2.0.3) to copy
an NTFS share on an NT Server, onto a Solaris 2.5 system.
The NTFS partition is 10Gb. At the 2Gb mark, the tar stops.
No errors, the file just stops. The process (smbtar) returns.
Is this a problem with Solaris 2.5 ? I believe it is, and if
I upgrade to 2.6, I can create larger tar files. However, does
anyone know if

Updated from 2.2.8a to 3.0b3 gives smbtar newer failure
Hi all,
Situation:
We use smbtar for backups, incrementals done using -N <last date file>,
and this has worked well with samba 2.2.x
After upgrading to 3.0b3, using the -N (newer) option to smbtar causes a
bad interaction with smbclient.
Eg,:
# smbtar -s PC -x Share -u User -p Pwd -d / -t - -N last-backup -v
gives (if you print out the eval at the end of smbtar script):

Selecting files to get...
Hello everybody,
I'm using Samba Version 1.9.17p3 on an IRIX 6.2-based workstation and
because I still have the same problem with the shares on the PC-box
(I'll send my report to samba-bugs too), I need workaround in order to
get the smbtar process running.
Here's my problem (I hope it's not too long):
I can see what's being shared by the Win95 box where I want to make the

smbtar not working
I install Samba 2.0.7 on my HP 715-80 running HPUX 10.20. The HP server
and two PC's are connected on a local LAN. I can map network, move
files, etc. However, when I try to use smbtar I get an error. The unix
server is hobbs, the two PC's are calvin and marmaduke. The C: drive on
calvin is named drive_c and set for share r/w. I can use tar from the
cmd line on the unix 'puter to
