Bug report: smbmount 2.0.6 and NT pagefile.sys bug
Hi,
I have just installed Samba 2.0.6 and noticed that the "pagefile.sys"
smbmount bug still exists:
When unsing smbmount to mount an NT4 volume, and doing an "ls" on the
mounted directory, I get:
# ls /mnt
ls: pagefile.sys: Permission denied
. IO.SYS SRVMGR.EXE

Samba 2.0.5a and smbmount password
Hi,
The new smbmount that comes with Samba 2.0.5a doesn't seem to recognize
the '-P' command line option.
This means that I cannot automatically mount shares from a script, as I
need to manually enter the password for each mount.
This used to work with the older smbmount, and also with the newer
'smbmount -c ...'.
Is this (passing a password on the command line) not supported

smb_lookup: find //pagefile.sys failed
When I mount a particular Windows 2000 share, I get this error hundreds
of times in /var/log/messages. All I have to do is mount the share, I
don't have to go into the directory or do anything with the share.
I actually don't know for sure that it's only for this one share.
Why does this happen? I'm on Fedora Core 2, using the samba-3.0.7-2.FC2
RPM that comes with it.

[PATCH] Inclusing memory mapping param for dom0 iommu mappings
OK, cut two of the iommu reserved memory issue patch as we discussed...
This patch adds a boolean boot parameter to xen to allow inclusive
mapping of all memory below 4GB to the iommu mappings for dom0. The
unusable ranges and memory occupied by xen are still excluded. The
parameter is "iommu_inclusive_mapping=1" and is off by default. In
addition to the parameter, a warning is also

Samba can't keep NT shares mounted
I don't know who this problem belongs to, samba or Linux, but it's a
common one, judging by the responses in my INBOX to a previous post.
Plus, it's a fairly serious one; many applications require smb shares to
be mounted continuously and without interruption. It's been a recurring
problem which seems to have been pushed off to the side as not
important, even though it's a

smbmount on NT machine times-out
I've got seven Linux boxes, and three NT boxes, all that have to be mounted via smbmount for a backup that we run through one of the Linux machines ("SPEEDY") via BRU. While Speedy has no problem keeping the mounts for all the Linux machines, the mounts for NT machines will timeout after a short period. I run a "df" and get an Input/Output error on all the NT machines. I

Determining if swap memory is turned off
In order to run some performance tests on optimization tools, I want to
be able
to avoid the use of swap memory. In *nix systems, at least Linux ones, I
can issue
a 'sudo swapoff -a' command and use just the RAM available. If I don't
do this, at
some point swap will be used, the disk goes ballistic and the machine is
unresponsive
because it is thrashing data to the swap. I

can smbmount to another Linux but not to NT
I have LM8.2 and samba 2.2.3.
When i set up the LM machines i could mount shares on NT machines. But no
longer.
I can smbmount to another Linux machine with no problems, but I can no
longer smbmount to any NT machine. Even though i have valid identical
accounts on both the LM and NT machines
Looking at the logs from the NT machines, i get wrong or malformed password,
from the LM machine I get

SMBMount losing connections to NT server
Hi all,
Just a thought - I'm running Samba on HP-UX 10.20,11.0, and MPE/iX, so no
SMBMount for
me. But Steve's idea that an update to files on the smbserver during a period
of inactivity on the smbclient being involved led me to question if this could
be an issue with the 'change notify' NT Transact mechanism; Some clients, when
doing a treeconnect to an smbshare, will then

using smbmount for NT share
I posted a previous thread about using smbmount, but I am still having some
problems, using samba version 2.0.5a on SuSE 6.2.
I issue the statement:
smbmount //NTServer/share /mnt/test -Iaddress -Uid%pswd
Afterwards, if I go to the mount directory, i.e. 'cd /mnt' and issue the
command 'ls -l' I get an error message 'ls: test: Input/output error'.
After that, the mount

Static/shared linking woes
Greetings.
A straight-out-of-the-cd Slackware 9.
A straight-out-of-the-tar Samba 3.0.0.
# cd source
# ./configure --with-automount --with-smbmount
(...configure ran...)
# make
(...make ran...)
# du
... What?? The bin/ directory amounted to over 400 MB!
smbd over 24 MB, when the 2.3.x one I have is 1.7 MB?
I presumed it erroneously linked all the libraries as static. So I did:

smbmount cannot browse large NT directories
This is a problem I get with various versions of Samba, up to and including
2.0.7. (The version shipped with Debian.)
I have an NT machine (4.0, service-pack 3 using NTFS) exporting a filesystem
to Linux through smbmount. Specific directories are not browsable. By that
I mean that "ls *" comes up blank, however if you know the filename, "ls
foo.txt" will still find the

VM creation failure using passthrough with latest unstable

[PATCH 0/2] Fix SMBios table regressions in HVM guests
The series "HVM firmware passthrough" series in Jan 2013 from Ross Philipson
cause two regressions for HVM guests which sadly found their way into the Xen
4.3 release.
The first regression causes an incorrect count of tables to be placed in the
main header, and can be seen by running dmidecode in any applicable HVM domain.
The second regression found its way into the public ABI, making

[PATCH] Included reserved memory regions in dom0 iommu mappings
This adds a boolean boot parameter to xen to allow reserved memory
regions to be added to the iommu mappings for dom0. The parameter
is "iommu_include_reserved" and is off by default. A warning is
also traced when incorrect RMRR to system memory map values are
detected. This is being added to address some incorrect BIOS''s that
do not report correctly the requied reserved memory
