No automatic refresh?
Hi!
I've been struggling with this install of Samba 2.0.4b on Linux/x86 2.0.36.
All of the client machines run Windows NT 4, SP 3.
I'm exporting /tmp as pub, and if I right click in the folder and create
a new folder, it doesn't show up until I go to 'view' and 'refresh'.
If I delete something, it doesn't go away until I refresh.
Why?

Compiling OpenSSH_3.0.2p1 on BSDI version 3.0
FYI,
I managed to install Version OpenSSH_3.0.2p1 on BSDI 3.0. we needed this for
an old Gauntlet Firewall.
I received an the following error during make install
(cd scard && make DESTDIR= install)
make: don't know how to make ./Ssh.bin. Stop
*** Error code 2
I edited the scard/Makefile.in file and changed
install: $(srcdir)/Ssh.bin to
install: Ssh.bin
Then I made a distclean and

OpenSSH 2.3.0p1 port to BSDI BSD/OS
BSD/OS 4.2 comes with OpenSSH 2.1.1p4, patched to support BSDI's
authentication library. However, BSDI's patches have several
problems:
1. They don't run the approval phase, so they can allow users to login
who aren't supposed to be able to.
2. They don't patch configure to automatically detect the BSDI auth
system, so they're not ready to use in a general portable

oplock problem - how to fix?
Hi everyone,
Trying to copy a 3.5MB file from a Windows 2000 workstation to a FreeBSD
4.6.2 server running samba-2.2.6.p2. The 3.5MB file is an MS Access file
called MoldFE.mdb. After a few seconds of copying the file, a message box
pops up on the W2K workstation that states "Cannot copy MoldFE: The
specified network name is no longer available". In /var/log/messages, I see

M-Box benchmark
A friend of mine passed me this[1] cause I'm recommending him Dovecot.
My personal experience is very different to the one in that benchmark. I
will appreciate similar links from those of you who had benchmarked
Dovecot against other IMAP servers.
I'm conscious that my personal experience is far to be a objetive
comparison. I switched from UW-Imap/Mbox to Dovecot/Maildir a box with

Question about how to reduce samba 3.3.3 install size or why it has been increased dramatically from 3.0.34 to 3.3.3
Hello,
can anyone give me some tips why the file size of various samba
executables has been increased dramatically from 3.0.34 to 3.3.3 (e.g.
smbd 3.5MB -> ~7MB) The reason is that it is necessary for our project
to keep the size as small as possible. You can have a look into the
makefile here:

Three interfaces firewall - performances problem
Hello,
I''ve shorewall running a three interfaces firewall (net, loc, dmz) and
I''ve got performances problems.
My measured bandwidth from internet is up to 6.8 Mb/s, and I "only" get
3.5Mb/s on my LAN and 5Mb/s on my dmz.
I checked with iperf, and all my interfaces (eth0, eth1, eth2) can
actually work at 10 Mb/s.
I tried disabling all the rules from loc to net

Difficulty w/1.0 and Sonique/Winamp
I am very excited to see the Vorbis 1.0 out.
Unfortunately, neither Sonique 1.808a nor Winamp 2.5
is willing to play the resulting files. Only silence.
I tried the simple case of 'oggenc track1.wav' and it
created the expected track1.ogg, 3.5MB in size with
avg. bitrate of 110kbps at default quality 3. These
applications worked fine with a much older version of
oggenc. Maybe Beta 2

Small file performance
Hi All,
We are experiencing painfully slow performance when transferring many
small files via Samba. We are currently running Samba 4.5.1, although
based on my searches the version doesn't seem to make any difference and
this is a long standing problem.
The servers, both the primary file server and the testbed, have dual
bonded 10Gb NICs and the client network is 1Gb.

New RedHat 6.0 rpm's available for Samba 2.0.4b.
Hi all,
I have made a RedHat 6.0 i386 binary rpm of 2.0.4b
with the glibc2.1 configuration fix available at :
ftp:<samba.org
mirror>/pub/samba/Binary_Packages/redhat/RPMS/6.0/samba-2.0.4b-19990527.i386.rpm
This rpm is to be preferred over the one on the RedHat 6.0
cd as it contains an autoconf configuration test to work
around the glibc2.1 bug w.r.t. 64 bit locking (the one
