Possible bug in 2.0.7?
Hi.
I'm setting up a Linux server (VA Linux version of Red Hat 6.2, kernel
2.2.14),
and I've installed Samba 2.0.7 from the rpm samba-2.0.7-20000425.i386.rpm,
packager John H Terpstra [Samba Team], build date Wed Apr 26 02:46:34 GMT

My smb.conf file, and a portion of the log file, are at the end of this
message.
I'm trying to replace a NetWare server, which co-exists with an

samba4 + openldap: provisioning isnt working
Wiki seems to be out of date here. The wiki reference's [1] [2] a "setup/provision-backend"
script, as well as a "setup/provision" script, yet current git only has a setup/provision
executable. Some #samba and #openldap IRC advice was that provision-backend wasnt needed
anymore, but based off the errors i'm seeing, there's definitely _something_ missing, I just

Authentication only on NT Boxes not accepted
Hi folks,
I'am using Samba 2.0.0 on a Linux and a Sun box and i have the following
problem: I can log in from a smbclient but not from an NT Client using
Security=Domain.
1.) Doubleclick on the machine opens the password dialouge (which
should'n appear, beacuse i'am already logged in the domain) Enter my
domainusername and password. Window dissapears and appears again and

samba handles nt logon restrictions wrong
we use samba as member servers with security=domain pointing towards a WinNT4 PDC.
accounts that have workstation logon restrictions are unable to connect to samba shared ressources
but are able to connect to windows nt shared ressources as they should.
normally, workstation logon restriction should deny only interactive logons.

Samba in a Win2k domain
John Dodge asked this same question back in December, but I haven't
seen any response in the archives. So, here it is again:
Samba appears not to be able to authenticate users whose account
lives in a Win2k domain. I have a couple Samba 2.0.4b servers that
use the local NT 4 PDC for authentication. The NT admins tell me
that the new Win2k domain has a trust relationship with the old NT 4

Samba can't authenticate in Win2k domain
I have three Sun fileservers running Samba 2.0.4b. They're setup
to authenticate with the local NT PDC, "iss-tech-f". In particular,
they've got this in their smb.conf files:
security = domain
password server = iss-tech-f
encrypt passwords = yes
This setup has been stable for many months, and I routinely point
to it as a success story for open source.
Now that

Samba in a Win2k domain (repeat)
I asked this question back on Monday and haven't seen any responses.
Have I not stated the problem clearly enough? Does it appear as if
I have not done my homework? Is nobody actually trying to integrate
Samba with Win2k domains? Am I not being patient enough?
If you've got a clue about how to get Samba to authenticate a user
who happens to have his account in a Win2k domain, please

Cumulative Link Models
Dear R community,
I'm trying to analyze a model with an ordinal response variable.
I wonder if clm()s (Cumulative Link Models) are appropriate in my case.
The study compares parasite infestation of porpoises in 1995 and 2009. The degree of infestation is a rank (mild to severe, as ordered factor). In some parasite species clm gives meaningful results. But in one case I started to wonder. In

Problem with CLVM (really openais)
I'm desparately looking for more ideas on how to debug what's going on
with our CLVM cluster.
Background:
4 node "cluster"-- machines are Dell blades with Dell M6220/M6348 switches.
Sole purpose of Cluster Suite tools is to use CLVM against an iSCSI storage
array.
Machines are running CentOS 5.8 with the Xen kernels. These blades host
various VMs for a project. The iSCSI

While discussing unexpected timeouts on a slow

Queue not dialing out to cell phone for some reason
Hello,
I have queues.conf setup with a group like so:
[Sales](StandardQueue)

So, my idea here that it should ring all 4 phones at the same time. And it does work but randomly.I did trace a call and

Attempting to mount to a Samba share from linux.
Hello, I have a fairly large problem mounting a samba share from within
linux. The samba server, running Solaris 7 with Samba pre-2.0.7, has a
bunch of shares on it, one of which I can mount from Windows, while logged
into the ACADIA domain, but I cannot mount that share using smbmount in
linux. When I log into windows, I log in with the username 033197m and my
password. In smb.conf I have my

Differences in masq from 1.4 -> 2.0?
In the panic of replacing our firewall(s) earlier in the week, we ended up
moving our original shorewall 1.4 config onto a machine with 2.0.10
already installed, overwriting all the 2.0.10 config files.
Most things seem to work fine, except for our masq entries. I''ve examined
the default 2.0.10 files compared with our 1.4 files, and can''t spot the
problem. What am I missing?

String replacement in an expression
Dear R-experts,
I need to replace in an expression the character "Cl" by "Cl+beta"
But in the following case:
form<-expression((Cl-(V *ka) ) +(V *Vm *exp(-(Clm/Vm) *t)))
gsub("Cl","(Cl+beta)",as.character(form))
We obtain:
[1] "((Cl+beta) - (V * ka)) + (V * Vm * exp(-((Cl+beta)m/Vm) * t))"
the character "Clm" has been
