How to test WINS functionality and swat question
Hi, The two servers I will mention are HP-UX 10.20 with samba-2.0.3 I've setup a dual-homed host and face two challenges. All of a sudden swat has stopped serving web pages. I did no radical changes to the smb.conf file (via swat) and now I get a "web server found, waiting for answer" message and it just stays there, I can find no relevant error message in the log files.

How to test WINS functionality
When the world was young, Ariel_Orellana@penoles.com.mx carved some runes like this: [snip] > Secondly, I'm not exactly sure my host, which has "wins support = yes" > option, with no other WINS server in the network, is working. How can I > test this? For example, I have another samba server which has "wins > server = 130.6.96.2" (the first server) but it

Non-default Domain group RID and NAS problem....
All, Many moons ago I set up Samba 3.x with LDAP (Fedora Directory Server) back end. Frankly, I forget what example configurations I worked off of, but the GIDs and SambaSIDs for well-known "Domain" groups (Admins, Computers, Guests, Users) start around 2512. Fast forward 6 months and we have a commercial NAS (EMC) in the domain. It has worked fine for basic home directories, but

Malformed HTML
I''m using Mechanize to parse an extraordinarily malformed html page. After submitting a form like so: page = mech.submit(dform) The result I get back is truncated. I suspect that it''s because the source HTML looks like this: <html> <head> yadda yadda</head> <p>some text</p> <html> <table yadda yadda> My

Browsing across subnets - some more problems (PR#6450)

This new image deals with the request, while the parent > process waits for new requests. nope, not at all. nmbd is a "one process handles all requests" daemon. You see two daemons because at startup

Repost: Browsing across subnets (again)
I'm sorry if people are getting fed up with my question, but I didn't get a response from the first post, and I didn't even see the second post appear in the summary. Hi All, this is probably a common problem and FAQ but I can't the solution. I've got two subnets, 10.1.1.0/255.255.0.0 at Leeds and 10.2.0.0/255.255.0.0 at Doncaster. At Leeds, I've got samba running as

Browsing across subnets connected by a linux router without using WINS
Hi! We have the following scenario: Subnet 1 ======= Contains PDC for domain DOM1 all clients in this subnet belong to DOM1 Subnet 2 ======= contains PDC for domain DOM2 all clients in this subnet belong to DOM2 These two subnets are connected via a multihomed linux box set up as a router between these subnets. IP routing definately works ok. What we want to achive is, to have full NetBIOS

Browsing across subnets - network star configuration
Hi all, I am trying to find a setup for browsing across subnets, however the BROWSER.txt document doesn't cover this situation: I have a network in a star configuration with a Linux machine acting as a router in the middle. ---------------- | Linux Router | ----------------

browsing, subnets, across, workgroups
Why does browsing across subnets only work if all of the machines are in the same workgroup? We're really a unix and mac campus, but we're trying to support windows machines by using a samba server to let them print and let the students access a little chunk of disk space. I've got a samba server set up as the workgroup SERVERS, and I've told it to be a domain master, a

Re: Rosetta Stone Microphone Detection
Thank you Rsay, it was a nice try, but I could not get this to work with my Logitech mic. For the record I have it (the microphone, that is) set up so that it works fine in Audacity. After opining Wine configure, dmesg gives me lots of these: [ yadda. yadda*] ALSA /build/buildd/linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.24-2.6.24/debian/build/build-generic/sound/alsa-driver/usb/usbaudio.c:1345: 4:1:1:

win98 browsing problem across VPN subnets
I have just setup a VPN connection three sites using IPCOP. Everything seems to be talking ok, apart from browsing the network neighborhood. There are no NT/Win2K/XP servers running on any of the sites, all sites are just running win98 pc's using tcp/ip. I have tried configuring all PC's to be on the same workgroup and setup sharing, but still each site can only see the pc's

Browsing across subnets - some more problems
Hi all, I am still battling to get browsing across subnets to work. I just need some clarification on some issues. I understand the following things to be the case, please correct me if I am wrong: - Machines on a subnet will periodically announce their existance by broadcasting to everyone their identity - Other machines will hear these broadcasts, and add the machines to their browse lists. -

Browsing across subnets
I would like to know how to view a samba server on a different subnet than the client workstation resides. For example, I have a Samba 1.9.18p3 server in subnet 'a' and a NT 4.0 client in subnet 'b'. The Samba server does not show up when the NT client double-clicks on the Network Neighborhood. However, if the client does a Find:computer it will find the server, and shares can be

NOLF2 - Registry key?
Glad to see the work that has progressed so far with wine, especially in the area of DirectX implementation. So, with that in mind I compiled a fresh copy of 20050830 and began testing my games. Started with an oldie but a goodie, No One Lives Forever 2. Usually I couldn't even get past the opening screen. This time, the game attempts to launch, but then a window pops up and says:

Newbie using John T's Examples (AD)
I'm following along with John T's examples book and I'm still befuddled on getting Samba working. The server is Fedora Core 5, Samba 3.0.23a-1.fc5.1 PDC is W2K SP4 with AD I basically copied/pasted the example smb.conf and nsswitch.conf to get a basic working config. The lines "template primary group" gave problems so I removed that one line. I run testparm -s and get:

Polycom/sip.conf/voicemail configurator
I have just created a very rough (read hack-ish) version of a Polycom SIP phone configurator. It allows you to define phones, create registrations, and such. By describing stuff about users, I am attempting to divine what the configuration should be. This is a VERY early first step in that direction. Right now, it: 1. Parses the phone1.cfg file included with whatever version software you use.

Cisco 7960 XML/Configs
I ordered 10 7960's with SIP today (YAY!), I should have them on Monday! So, to be better prepared come Monday morning, I was wondering if anyone knew of any * compatible screen configs for things such as browsing VM, etc, yadda, yadda. I checked out the wiki about ADSI but from what I see, that's not really applicable in a SIP setup? I'm guessing it's going to be a more XML
