/etc/locale.conf is ignored
It seems that /etc/locale.conf is ignored in Centos 7.
As a traditionalist who prefers things sorted lexicographically rather
than indiscriminately with case ignored and dates to be displayed in
the form "Sep 11 2008", I have always added lines to this file:
$ cat /etc/locale.conf
LANG="en_US.UTF-8"
# Fix collating sequence for sort and ls
export LC_COLLATE=C

Centos 7 License???
Today I did a yum upgrade to my kvm'ized Centos 7 test machine
(perhaps a bad day to do such a thing) and received new kernel
vmlinuz-3.10.0-229.1.2.el7.x86_64, among many other things.
When I rebooted, I was asked to confirm (or renew, or some such)
my license. My LICENSE ???
I was booting in text mode and the actions required were
a) unfamiliar, and b) hard to understand.
As I recall, I

r8712u wireless driver
I've just installed centos 6.3 for the first time on a test machine and
couldn't be happier - except that a critical wireless adapter driver is
missing - the r8712u. I would love to convert my mythtv machine from
Fedora 17 to centos 6.3 to put all that chaos and instability behind me.
My mythtv machine connects only wirelessly to the rest of my network
and uses a Rosewill RNX-N180UBE USB

NFS export issue
Hello,
I have a ZFS filesystem structure, which is basically like this:
/foo
/foo/bar
/foo/baz
all are from one pool and /foo does only contain the other
directories/mounts (no other files)
When I try to export /foo via dfstab, I can see the directories bar and baz,
but these are empty.
Can I only export via NFS each subdir on its own ?
thanks in advance.

Does anyone have Samba working with diald
I can not seem to get Samba and diald working together. Whenever I log
in to my Windows 95 computer and it tries to map my drives to the Samba
server diald dials and then the drive does not map. If I wait a minute
or so and then right click on Network Neighborhood and do a find
computer my Samba server shows up. I can than log on to Windows again
and it maps the drive fine. Or I can unload diald

Asterisk and Dial-Up ISP
Yes, I know this is lame, but my location limits me to using a dial-up ISP. I am running asterisk with a T100P and a TDM400 card. I currently have dial-on-demand setup on the same box, using diald and an external modem. To prevent DOD from trying to dial out during an external call, I have an AGI script kill diald before initiating a call, and then restart it at the end of the call by looking

Desktop.ini showing up
First of all I am new to Samba. I successfully deployed Samba 3.0.6 as a PDC
w/roaming profiles.
All the workstations have a desktop.ini file that shows up on the desktop
after joining the domain. The contents of the ini differ from workstation to
workstation.
>From my understanding this file is a supposed to be a hidden file, but it is
not.
Any ideas?

I've setup a PDC with Samba 3.0.23 and a ldap-backend.
Roaming Profiles are working, but I always have the desktop.ini visible
in some folders of the Windows-Startmenue.
I found several hints for the dos-attributes in smb.conf, buit notthing
seems to work.
Any hints?

[patch] fix crash in ini plugin
The ini plugin segfaults on startup. The following patch fixes it. Not
sure why this hasn't been caught before - i guess not many people use
the ini plugin.
Please apply.

the desktop.ini incident again
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Hi folks,
I also have the problem that the notepad pops up (with desktop.ini
opened), everytime I logon.
I know the workaround that was mentioned a thousand times before:
hide files = /desktop.ini/ntuser.ini/NTUSER.*/
I put the file to the [profile]-share, to the [global]-share, but it
won't work!

place 4 ini files
Dear expeRts,
I collect some lab specific functions for a package.
Some of this functions need initial data
(ini files written in R-code). My question is:
Where is the place in the package structure for such files;
how to load the files?
I think something like:
source(paste(R.home(),"/library/__pkg__/data/__.ini.R", sep=""))
looks a bit clumsy.
I haven't find something

CentOS 7: changes to php.ini
Hi,
I'm hosting a few web apps like OwnCloud, Wordpress and Dolibarr on
CentOS 7 that require a handful of changes to php.ini. I have to define
some custom values for post_max_size, upload_max_filesize, etc.
I don't know if I'm supposed to edit /etc/php.ini directly or if changes
should be put in a configuration file stub in /etc/php.d. For example, I
followed the recommendations of

Installing MSWord SETUP.INI is missing or invalid
Hi,
I'm trying to install Microsoft Word 2002 on Wine, version 1.1.0, running on ubuntu hardy heron, from a dvd called Microsoft Works Suite 2004 (German) that came bundled with my computer, and I've run into some kind of endless loop.
This is what happens:
- I d-click setup.exe on the dvd, wine starts and the setup menu is shown.

Read Windows-like .INI files into R data structure?
I need to process some datasets where the configuration information was
stored in .INI-like files, i.e., text files with sections like this:

var2=value2
[Section2]
A=value3
B=value4

PDC for XP: empty desktop and desktop.ini showing up
Hello there,
I'm trying to set up Samba as a PDC for Windows XP Professional (SP2).
It seems to work fine. Machine accounts are created automatically,
passwords between Unix and Samba users get synced, I can logon, profile
directories are created - but there's a problem.
I know that this is well-known, but it drives me crazy and I don't know
any solution.

how to "hide" the desktop.ini file on roaming profiles?
Hi people, im new on the list.
I have a samba 3.0.10 working as a PDC with roaming profiles for win2003
clients.
The problem is that the windows 2003 uses a lot of desktop.ini "hiden
files" that when i save this on my roaming profile and i log back in for
the second time i lost this "hiden bit" on the desktop.ini files and i
see them everywhere. Even on the

Flat file backend (ini)
I have written an initial flat file configuration
backend for Compiz. At the moment it is using
FAM for monitoring of files (it can be compiled
without monitoring support for now).
It is working fine but there are a couple of problems.
1. It looks like I should use addFileWatch rather than
directly accessing FAM, is this correct? I notice dbus
uses addFileWatch rather than
