Server Being Unfreindly.
I am having problems connecting mapped network drives to
shares on a Samba server running on a RISC/6000 AIX 4.2.1.
This has been working for several months and I cannot for
the life of me figure out what

When executing 'smbclient -d5 -L HostName' I receive the

Hi everyone,
Im really new to the list as well as to Samba. I just installed it on tuesday!

with the kernal upgraded to 2.0.33. I can browse the server but I cannot seem

Hi,
I am relatively new to the samba-suite. We are useing samba for file-Service
and printer-service since a while the files residing on Digital-UNIX (DUNIX)
and QNX and also the printers. works fine and very stable.
Due to a reconfiguration I am looking for connecting the printer (HP-LJ4M) to
a WinNT-WS client. and if I try to print out of DUNIX via smbclient

smbmount -- what am I missing?
I wish to mount a Win95 share on my linux machine. I can use smbclient
to get to the shared disk, using this format:
smbclient //win95.machine/share <password>
The win95.machine is listed in my /etc/hosts file.
I've tried every permutation of the smbmount syntax that I've been able
to find in the documentation, dejanews, or this mailing list. Perhaps
I've missed some. I

No Domain Controller, Please help to interpret tcpdump
Greetings!
I am still struggling with the issue that after vampiring from NT4
domain to Samba 3.0.7 with ldap backend, Windows XP cannot find the domain
controller.
In particular, WXP is an XP Prof which signed in AB_INITIO_DOM domain.
After the migration I put the Samba Server (Priscilla) and WXP in an
isolated network, and started up Priscilla as PDC for the network. But WXP

Problems accessing a W95 share
Hi!
I'm trying to use a printer connected to a Win95 box from Linux but when I try
'smbclient -L win95_machine' I get the following message:
SMBnegprot failed. myname=TARKUS destname=WIN95 - ERRSRV - 1311
I'm using samba-1.9.18p5. The access in the other way (W95 to Linux shares)
works without any problems.
When I set the printer as shared in the W95 box it is possible to

Problems with smbpasswd
I've compiled the latest version of samba (1.9.18p4) and set up password
encryption (per instructions in the ENCRYPTIONS.txt file). Setting root's
smbpasswd worked with no problems. I set another user (me) with an
smbpasswd. Tried "smbclient -L '\\hostname\wwinzer'". The output is the
following:

smbclient seems touched in the head
Hi, All
I'm brand new to the list, and here's what's going on:
I am running samba 1.9.18 on a RedHat Linux box (RH release 5.2).
Samba was installed via RPM rather than built locally.
While configuring smbd for a different purpose than I write about
here, I discoverd smbtar. It struck me that this might prove a
useful tool for backing up an NT mail-server (icky, I know) from a

Script: Moving Maildirs between servers
Hi,
I just migrated from dovecot 1.0.rc29 to 1.1.7, from Sparc platform to
Intel, it went very well.
In the process I merged folders and excluded folders from being copied.
User rights on folders were kept/set.
I thought I'd share my migration script with you folks. If there's an
interest to put it on the wiki I can do that, but I'm not sure in what
page.
Use it as a starter if you

Can't see my server
I'm trying to get running an ethernet with two machines: a samba server running suse linux 6.4 and a client
running windows 98.
I follow the steps in the DIAGNOSIS.txt file, but I get stucked when executing 'net view \\SERVER' in the
client. I have laready done everything it says in that file:
1) Set a lmhost file in the client. Just with this line:

No. See my previous message. I think it's the result of copying
portions of SuSE configurations.

Problems with 1.9.18p8
Having tried all the hints in DIAGNOSIS.txt, and having no success, and
being unable to decrypt the error codes (does anyone have a list of these?) I
send this to you all in the hope you can figure it out.
FYI: I'm running 1.9.18p8, upgraded from 1.9.16p9. I got the exact same
errors on both versions. I'm running debug level 5 to try and find some
clue to the problem. I did have samba
