Bug samba 2.0.4 ?
Hi
I just installed Samba 2.0.4 under Solaris 2.5.1
Now when someone trys to save a MS Word file to his home directory on
the SUN he gets a "not enough permissions"
msg.
Looking on the unix side I see a file ~WRD1741.tmp with permissions of
000 .
I upped the log level to 3 and found this ..
call_nt_transact_set_security_desc: file = forNT/~WRD1741.tmp, sent 0x7

'close command' patch available
I've written a patch to samba 2.0.2/3 that adds a new share parameter to
samba named 'closed command' that is similar in functionality to 'print
command', but works on file shares. If a share has a 'close command'
specified, then the given command will be run when a client closes a file.
It takes the standard macro substitutions in addition to %s (or %f) to pass

Unfortunately the situation is unchanged. Interesting is that sometime
Win98 can see the correct shares but only the first time when is
accessing Samba and then... lost.
I'm still trying . Can someone tell me how to find what values those %..
parameters take when Samba is acessed ?

/packaging/SuSE/6.0
Hie all,
I'm trying to use samba 2.0.4b on a SuSE 6.1 Linux box.
What should I do with these two files :
samba-2.0.0.dif
samba.spec
from the samba-2.0.4b/packaging/SuSE/6.0 directory.
Is there any modification to do to have samba running without
problems on SuSE 6.1 ?
Thanks for help.

help configuring netboot over remote serial terminal
Hi Folks,
I'm trying to install Debian onto a headless server (Supermicro
X8SIE-LN4F motherboard). The on-board IPMI BMC redirects the serial
port to COM3, and I can talk to it just fine over a remote console
connection.
I've been trying to install Debian remotely, and have the DHCP and TFTP
servers working, and things seem to work (at least into the Splash
screen) if I'm using

unable to validate owner sid
Hi,
I was hoping someone could help me out or just point me in the correct
directions as to what I am doing wrong. I have Samba 2.2.3a installed and
configured with winbind for domain authentication using an ext3 file system
with ACL support. It is working great! Thanks Samba Team!
The problem that I am experiencing is I would like to use an application
like "xcopy" to propagate the

FEATURE REQ: safe % expansion via new syntax
Proposal: There should be a way to specify that some substitutions
should be made in a way that is safe as far as Bourne Shell
command lines are concerned (e.g., if %f expands to a string
with special characters in it, it should be expanded to a
sutiably quoted string in 'print command' parameters).
Either all parameters that eventually result in a /bin/sh command line

Can't set ACL on Samba
Hi everybody,
i'm getting mad configuring samba to join an ADS, resolve domain
users and groups and set ACLs via windows explorer on a share mounted
with POSIX ACL and extended attributes.
At the point where i am, i've managed to get Samba join correctly the
domain with idmap_rid backend working fine.
I can correctly set (add, remove, modify) file acls and extended
attributes

MCMCglmm priors including phylogeny
Hi all,
I'm hoping I might be able to get some help with some issues specifying priors for MCMCglmm.
I'm trying to fit a gaussian glmm using MCMCglmm to a data set with two (correlated) response variables. The response variables are both logit-transformed proportions (there are a few reasons why I've chosen these with gaussian error over binomal glmm, which I won't go into).

[Slightly OT] Do you use virtualization in production ?
Hi!
I''ve been using parallels, vmware player, or virtual pc (did not try xen
yet) for development, testing and experimenting with new platforms (and I
must say I love them - copy paste a few files, and I have a clean deployment
box etc)
Since the RailsConf and various talks I''ve seen (like Jason Hoffmann''s

Samba 3.0.20 acls not working anymore and problem with winbindd_idmap.tdb
Hi Folks,
I am experiencing some problems with samba 3.0.20 which I can not solve
on my own. We have updated from samba 3.0.10 to samba 3.0.20, but I am
not sure when the problems started.
We had a problem with idmap - I had hoped to solve - before. Whenever
we rebooted the server, all of the ACLs got jumbled up. I thought that
our winbindd_idmap.tdb somehow got broken. I re-created it, but

Special Characters in Filenames -> rsync error code 24, files vanished
Hello,
there are problems syncing files with special charcters in the filename.
The special characters in the filename are displayed as a question mark.
During synchronization, the rsync tells the file is vanished.
Here is the standard output with level 1 verbosity. Higher verbosity
levels dont give more informations about the problem. The stat command
with this file succeed.

dovecot+LDAP/AD encoding issue
Hello everybody,
i have a problem with dovecot+Active Directory as Authentication-Service. I am not able to use special characters (???? (german umlaut)) within a password. Normally I would suggest that the ldap-query is done in UTF-8 but as I debugged the auth-process, I have seen that the password is ISO-8859-1 encoded.
The "original" query (from roundcube for example) is UTF-8

Path to R script
There is certainly a trivial solution for my question, but I can't
find the answer in the documentation.
I need a platform independent method to obtain the file path of the
current R script.
My working group uses R on several machines with different operating
systems including Mac OS X, Windows and Linux, and for obvious
reasons the file hierarchies are very different. Therefore, it
