JetDirect
Hi,
WOW, this was posted over a year ago! A response now.
The problem still exists. As reconfirmed in a post i read not to long ago
(within the last 2 weeks?). HP jetdirect cards can only do one thing at a
time. (HP has been writing Jetdirect firmware for 5 years, PLEASE HP you
_MUST_ have the ability to fix it?! Or don't you??)
This can be confirmed if you have an NT only shop. In the

NDPS or JetDirect Printing RH 7.1 Wine 082002
Anyone manage to print to an NDPS printer. The Server
is NW5 and there is no Bindery context or ques. When
trying to print a test page I just get and error
saying there was an error.
I could print as a JetDirect que, but I can't seem to
get it to work. I put in the IP address and can ping
it, I just can't print to it. It asks for a Que name
but I am not sure what to put in for a

Updated Vorbis RTP I-D
Hi all,
Apologies in advance, this email is quite long.
I've prepared an updated Vorbis RTP Internet Draft, which is a
continuation of draft-moffitt-vorbis-rtp-00.txt which can be found
below.
If this new draft gets the ok I'd like to submit this to the AVT WG
later this week.
There are a number of changes over the original I-D, notably the
changing of the M bit function in the RTP

Samba, CUPs & Win2000 printing
I'm very new to Linux and Samba so bear with me - I am migrating our
business to a Linux/Samba network from an NT network - using Samba as a
PDC.
We are running RH7.3, Samba v2.2.7a, and CUPS v1.1.14
I have a test network set-up which includes the Linux/Samba PDC server, a
Win2000 client and a HP Jetdirect network printer (Laserjet 4Si)
Domain logons and filesharing works fine, but I

Can I execute linux command like(ls, mkdir) through the Manager interface?
I can't seem to access the manual at digium.com. I keep getting 'Forbidden'

Slow printing to HP jetdirect from cups
I've googled for this and poked around linuxprinting.org, but couldn't
find anything helpful.
I have a CentOS 5 server with an HP LaserJet 4 attached via JetDirect
with the hplip driver. The problem is that when I have multiple print
jobs in the queue, there is a delay of about 15 seconds between each
job. This gets very annoying when there are 10-15 one-page jobs in the
queue.

How to set up spooling for a HP JetDirect interface?
I've set up Samba and LPRng for HP printers with
JetDirect cards. It works for one user at a
time. But if the printer is off-line or busy, the
samba client does not get an error message, but
the job gets lost. :( I would like the print
jobs to be spooled on Linux even when there is an
active print job or when the printer is off-line.
Unfortunately I'm not familiar with lpd.

printer giving Access Denied
I have 2 printer queues setup on my samba 3.0.6 NT4-style PDC. About a month
ago, one of them stopped working due to an issue with CUPS. After restarting
CUPS, printing to that share was giving Access Denied. From a windows box, I was
able to add drivers and set default print settings as a domain administrator but
I still couldn't print. I created a new printer share pointing at the same

Encoding from fifo's
Hello, I'm new to the list, so if this is an FAQ, please point me to the
relevant docs.
I'm playing with Theora, to see what kind of quality I can expect (I
realise its not for production use yet). I've download the source from
CVS, and got it to build, with the example encoder and player.
While trying to find something to serve as a good source of input, I
decided I'd use a

Printer fun - controlling queue from Windows NT clients
I have set up a Samba server to act as our lab's print server for a bunch
of NT clients. It works quite well, except for one thing. Nobody can
control the print queue from Windows. When a job is sent, it never shows
up in the Windows print queue window, even when there are lots of other
jobs ahead of it. Using lpq under Linux shows the jobs just fine. Lprm et
al work perfectly too. So I assume

integrate print with windows, print administration from w2K/NT
Hi list, I'm working on a RH 7.2 non intel system which I'd like to do
printserving for windows clients. I'm using samba 2.2.5-1 installed via
RPM. Ideally the print administrator would manage access to the
print-queues remotely from his win2k box.
Am I understanding correctly, that if I hand-off user/group checks to
winbind in my nsswitch.conf, that NT groups can be enforced

There must be a smarter way
Newbie and trying to learn the right way of doing things in R. in this case,
I just have that feeling that my convoluted line of code is way more
complicated than it needs to be. Please help me in seeing the easier way.
I want to do something pretty simple. I have a dataframe called x that is
6945 elements long. I'd like to create a vector rtn= log(x[2,2]/x[1,3]),
then log(x[3,2]/x[2,3]),

weird printing problems.
I'm experiencing some weird printing problems with samba connected
printers. When I'll bring up a 95/98 workstation, sometimes it will say
that the printer is offline, when it clearly isn't, or it will see
everything fine, but it simply won't print.
These are remote lpd connected printer to the samba server, and lpd can
print fine. These are JetDirect HP printers.

Patch to make libogg detection a bit smarter
Hi,
This patch make libogg detection a bit smarter if you're trying
to cross-compile. What I want is to be able cross-compile Speex
without OGG - right now it is not possible without som hacking
of Speex build scripts, because if cross-compiling enabled
speex silently assume that you have libogg compiled and installed.
Such behaviour was used (as far as I could imagine) because

Icecast & DB storage
Hi List,
Has anyone had any experiences of using a DB as the source container for
MP3's with Icecast/IceS/Shout.
What we are trying to do is store the source media in Oracle, and/or
Postgres, as BLOB's. The aim is to not have the source-files on the
file-system so clustering and management becomes easier.
Any pointers?
Cheers
Phil
