Samba in heterogeneous 95/NT environment
Hello.
We are considering using a samba-based architecture with Unix file/print
servers
instead of installing NFS clients on every PC, and I have been asked to
study
samba and give a presentation at some point.
So far, my main problem is, we want to use it in a heterogeneous
win95/NT4(sp4)
environment. While samba (2.0.5) does work perfectly well with NT, we have

We have Samba 1.9.18p3 intalled on Digital Unix 4.0, and succeed to

when we try the same from NT system installed on the very same PC,
the connection fails, with the following error message:
"System error 1240 has occurred. The account is not authorized to login
from this station"
Username and domain are the same

uninteresting reasons, I've got a situation that I wanted to run by the
list just in case there's a work around.
I have an NT 4 server that's the PDC that my new Samba box, running

Need help connecting NT workstation to Samba Server
I have a few DOS and Win95 PC's connecting to our Linux 2.0.33 server
running Samba v1.9.18p3. This weekend, I am installing a WinNT
workstation on the LAN. I can't for the life of me connect the NT
station to any of the SAMBA services. It keeps telling me I have the
wrong username/password.
My setup:
Windows NT Workstation SP3 (with the registry set to disable encrypted
passwords).

able to mount my Unix disk, now my Win95 machine is not able to

a password but says the password is invalid, it is the same password
that is used on the Win95 and Unix machines... help

As long as I'm working with Win311/95/98 clients everything is OK, but when
I try to connect with a WinNT 4.0 client, I get the following errormessage
(translated from german, so the US message may sound a little different):

ATTN Jamie Thompson: Authentication Issues
I was having the exact same problem, where the NT4 box complains, "The
client is not authorized to login from this station." or something to
that effect. The problem is that the Samba machine is not set up to use
encrypted passwords, and NT requires them by default. You can either
change a setting in the NT registry, making it allow clear-text logins,
or you can set up your Samba box to

This doc contains a section about migrating from 2.0.x to 2.2.x

Samba 1.9.18p7 with Win95/NT...
Hi...
I've gone through the DIAGNOSIS.txt document, and just about
everything else I can think of, and am lost...
I've installed Samba on one of my Sparc's here at the office, and
am trying to connect to it from a Win95 machine, and it fails. If I try
to use smbclient from a different Unix host, it connects fine.
If we look at a Win/NT machine, the Sparc server comes up on the
