Samba over SSH and pam_smb
I have an interresting situation that I am searching for a solution.
I want to use pam_smb for authenticating SSH connections to a remote server.
The Domain Controller I want to authenticate against is a Win NT 4.0 box
located on our internal lan.
An idea was given to me to set up an SSH tunnel and forward the relative
ports across the internet to a local machine.
All of my machines are RedHat

Debian and dovecot
I have Debian 3.0 (woody) and installed the dovecot packages and it works ok
with the default configuration. I want to change the default configuration,
is any of this possible?
a) I don't want to create accounts for each user, can I have a mailboxes
directory with the mailboxes of all the users? They are not many (10-15).
b) The authentication right now is done through PAM, the

Looking for Latest pam_smb Package
In integration of Documentum Sever with Active Directory, the
instructions point to pam_smb package version 1.9.8 that can be found on
the Samba FTP site. How do I get pam_smb version 3.x?

pam_smb and 3.4.x
Hello.
On a FreeBSD 7 box of mine, I was using Samba 3.0.x as a password
backend through pam_smb (http://www.skynet.ie/~airlied/pam_smb/).
After an upgrad to 3.4.8/3.4.9, that stopped working.
I see no evident reason for that and I'm really lost about where to
start debugging.
Is there any reason this should not work anymore?
Any hint?
bye & Thanks

winbind/gdm auth failure
Dear Samba-Users,
two problems to solve...
1) Trying to authenticate users via pam_winbind against
NT-PDC (samba 3.0.4, Debian GNU Linux 3.0). Got shell login
and ssh working, but won't be able to login via GDM to
gnome or KDE. I do not really understand the difference
between login/ssh module stack and gdm module stack. Log
auth says something queerish:

wbinfo -u returns 0xc0000022
Hello,
I am attempting to add a Redhat 9 box to our NT4 domain as a member
server. I want to enumerate user and group info so I don't have to make
two sets of user and group accounts. I've setup samba (version 2.2.7a)
and pamd the way I think I'm supposed to, but wbinfo -u always returns
0xc0000022. I've found this particular error mentioned in a few
articles, but applying the

PAM auth stage rejection not working
Hi,
I have an auth module for PAM that I wrote a few years ago called
pam_vsd.so. The idea is that a user must have a certain privilege
before they can successfully authenticate. Without the privilege the
PAM module will return PAM_PERM_DENIED.
However I find that in OpenSSH 3.7.1p2, I can easily subvert this check
simply by hitting return 3 times on connection i.e.

In the beginning, there was mud...
A couple of days ago, I was given the task of replacing a mail server -- old
hardware, network topology changes, and personnel changes led up to this.
Now, the actual swapout of a mail server is relatively straightforward and
(somewhat) easy to do. But this one had a wrench -- I had to authenticate
off of an NT4 domain. There were some other, smaller, wrenches as well, but
they have nothing to

OpenSSH and pam_radius_auth.so
Hi,
I have recently upgraded from OpenSSH-3.5 to OpenSSH-3.8 on my Red Hat 6.2 servers. I use radius (pam_radius_auth) for ssh authentication. Since the upgrade ssh1 (putty 0.52) logins are failing. I've come to the conclusion that pam is skipping the radius section of the config file and is falling back to standard unix authentication.
Is there any way of making ssh1 work with radius on
