Still Problems with Samba 2.2.7 and Mac OSX?
(Some more info) I have a FreeBSD server running Samba 2.2.8 now (updated from 2.2.7).. I've turned log levels to 10... I have a user who needs this machine to do her job, and she uses Mac OS X, the latest 10.2 updates have been applied. She routinely cannot connect to this box, and gets an error -36, which means she needs to reboot every time she gets this. The logs show *NOTHING* when

Changing AD pasword
Running Samba3.0.2a in linux (Gentoo) security = ads Users are logging in fine (XP and W2K), using samba for file sharing and printing. We have (by corporate decree) a fairly short password life. When the password is about to expire the user is prompted to change it during their windows logon. I have seen mention of synchronizing the password with unix but no mention of pushing it back to the AD

Samba and NIS+ (lengthy desperate plea)

I work at a small university and we are setting up 3 labs. 2 are filled with Ultra Sparc 5's, and the 3rd will be filled with PCs running NT4 workstation. We have an Enterprise Server 3500 running NIS+ to authenticate the Unix labs (or rather we will, once I get it working), and I'd like to set up Samba to authenticate the NT labs using

NT4 User Unable to log in to Samba 1.9.17p5

The message that Samba puts into the logs is as follows : NT Password did not match ! The option "log on to remote network" is activated and as far as I can conclude

apple's samba on mac os x server
This is probably a long shot, but does anyone know what apple has done to samba on mac os x server? reading through the docs, it sounds like they have modified it to authenticate via netinfo. At the very least, they've done something so that rather than having an smbpasswd file, it stores the windows encrypted passwords in netinfo, and it authenticates incoming requests via netinfo rather

Machine account pasword change failed (NT 4)
Hi guys and girls, I run a Samba-3.0 PDC for N.T. workstations on a Slackware Linux box. I often see the following error in the N.T. workstation's event log: Changing machine account password for account "xxxxx$" failed with the following error: The handle is invalid. Any ideas what this could be ? I'm not using PAM in any way. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. --

Do _kpasswd DNS entries determine server used for pasword changes
I am trying to do something apparently unsupported in trying to use Samba 4.1.6 as an additional Active Directory Domain Controller with a Windows Server 2000 controller. I find that inbound replication works but outbound replication does not. Also DNS replication is not supported (this was noted during provisioning). In an effort to get outbound replication working, I manually entered all of the

Is there any explanation for this behaviour though? Why are BCRYPT hashes accepted when default_pass_scheme is set to SHA512-CRYPT and not vice versa? Is this
