(OT) Novell Community Offer; CentOS LUG; VMWare
There was some interest in the IRC channel on the latest Novell offering to the trade. This is interesting as it contains a full non-timebombed VMWare instance, in addition to the Novell technical offerings mentioned in the E-Mail below. Novell has announced a renewal of their periodic DVD sampler program -- feel free to indulge. Additionally, there was a offer some months directly from

Novell DHCP and Pxelinux
Hello Friends, once more. We got pxelinux run with win 2000 dhcp. It works really fine. there a not problems at all. Now we want to get it run also under novell, but we want to use the novell dhcp, we don't need the tftpd from novell, we want to use a tfptd on another machine (a simple micrsoft tfptd). As we found out, novell does not support the dhcp options (67 = bootserver, 68 =

Thank you! Upgrade from Novell 4.11 is complete
I just wanted to write to you guys and thank you for all of your help and hand-holding as I upgraded our company's file server from a Pentium 200mmx running Novell 4.11 to a nice P4 server running Linux and Samba 3.0.9. It took from September to the end of December to accomplish it, but I have gotten compliments from several users about how smooth the transition was. My environment

"Save As" fails to Samba drive, works on Win95, NT, Novell ...
Hi -- I originally posted the following message about 2 weeks ago -- I don't mean to annoy but really need to solve this problem - if anyone can shed any light on the issue I'd greatly appreciate it. Since the original post, we've run the application with its data on network drives shared from 95, NT, and Novell, and all work fine, as does saving locally. It only fails on a

Novell Client forces password change, Ver. 3.5.2. and LDAP
Dear all, we have a strange behavior using Samba (Verson 3.5.2) as PDC with Open LDAP (Version 2.1.22) as backend and an old Novell-Client (version: 4.91 SP5) running on WinXP (SP3 and higher). The old PDC (Version 3.0.28) was running over years with the same LDAP-Server as backend and with Novell installed on the clients. We decided to migrate to Samba 3.5.2 , updated all the LDAP schemas

Recycle option, Novell users can't use recyclebin
Dear Samba users, this is my first time in a mailing list so if this message should fall in the wrong place, you know why ;). The problem I'm having is as follows. I have a Suse Enterprise Server 9 (kernel 2.6) with Samba version "3.0.14-0.1-SUSE" running. I also have, on a Novell 6 server, a Novell useraccount that is used throughout the company. To make things easy I made a

login to samba3 PDC and problem with novell netware client
Hi, I have actual installation Debian Sarge (testing) with Samba 3.0.2a. There is Windows XP SP1 on workstations. I use Novell client 4.83 SP2 or 4.9 SP1 for Novell Netware connections. I try to run Samba as PDC. Everything is fine without Novell client. After Novell Client installation, I could not logon to samba domain. Client gives me message "Domain controller could not be found for

follow up to novell file issue and a question about "fstype"
Ok, I've done some further research into this one: It appears that installing the Novell client on a Win machine has the effect of replacing the file copy command with one from Novell. It also seems that the NTFS filesystem has spaces for extra metadata, and the the new Novell command is using those to store it's ACL. I"m guessing that this metadata is not storable via Samba,

rsync 2.5.5 port to Novell NetWare
Hullo, all. I diligently consulted the suggested reading on the way in: > Welcome to the rsync@lists.samba.org mailing list! PLEASE READ THIS > IMPORTANT ETIQUETTE MESSAGE BEFORE POSTING: > http://www.tuxedo.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html 'Twas a quick read, given that I'm the co-author. ;-> I recently received an odd inquiry from someone I didn't know at all,

SMB share/MS networking + Novell = major lag
I am hoping someone else has found a solution for this: "A Delay Occurs When You Open a Mapped Network Drive on a Novell NetWare or UNIX NFS Server" This delay is usually 25sec for any mapped drive or network printer when accessed the first time since timeout. Painful for users who need novell and samba shares. (Windows XP sp2, exists on Novell clients 4.9 sp1a, sp1b, sp2, &
