WINS (NBMD) server only
To replace failing Windows Server, I configured the Linux one.
The two services I need are DNS and WINS, so I installed Bind9 and Samba.
But I see that Samba is far from compact, its installation requires Perl + Python. I do not need to share resources with shis server too. In result, I got 900M on HDD.
Are there a way to install NMBD only? Without (or with as least as possible) extra packets.

I do not think that it has something to do with the dovecot settings itself but perhaps with the pam facility settings instead?

want to set a var in sip.conf
i have extensions in locations across a number of telco area codes.
when someone in seattle picks up and dials 91234567, it would be
nice to transform it to 92061234567. i would prefer not to have
an extension context per area code. it would be cool to be able
to set a variable in the sip.conf bit for each phone with it's
geographic default area code.
or other folk may have a better hack.

how does a sip://user@dom.ain url come in
if the dns has
_sip._tcp.my.dom. SRV 0 0 5060 asterisk.dom.ain.
_sip._udp.my.dom. SRV 0 0 5060 asterisk.dom.ain.
where asterisk.dom.ain. is an A RR of the asterisk pbx.
how does a call to sip://user@my.dom come in to asterisk
so i can route it?
do i just put in sip.conf

and extensions.com

v6 in tonight's cvsup
just cvsupped to get the panic cure. hosts with v6 enabled get
lock-ups. no detail yet, as i am remote from them and am deciding
whether to wait for remote hands to power cycle or to start
driving.
but two of them got very very net soggy. and i went in out of
band to the console, disabled v6 in /etc/rc.conf, rebooted, and
they're fine. the third host is dead to the world :-(

bridging tinc router mode network and switch mode network
Are you sure B is correctly configured to forward packets at the layer
3 level between the interface of the "router" tinc and the interface
of the "switch" tinc? (iptables, etc.)
On router B, are you sure the node file for B on the "router" tinc is
configured to announce the entire 192.168.15.0/24 subnet (i.e. Subnet
= 192.168.15.0/24)? Otherwise B won't get the

Tinc VPN as Gateway to the Internet
Hi All,
I have two networks: 10.10.20.0/24 and 10.10.30.0/24
The two networks can talk IPv4 to eachother, but only subnet 10.10.20.0/24
has access to the public internet, whereas 10.10.30.0/24 cannot reach the
public internet.
I have a windows host on the 10.10.30.0/24 network at 10.10.30.50 and I
would like to use tinc to connect the windows host to my linux workstation
at 10.10.20.40 to

bridging tinc router mode network and switch mode network
I am running tinc v. 1.1pre (truly as I read somewhere, ?one of the internet?s best kept secrets?) on some consumer home routers flashed with tomato firmware. I have a whole network of these, but for the purposes of this question I will focus on just three
Router A (subnet 192.168.5.0/24) is connected via a standard tinc ?router? mode network with Router B (subnet 192.168.15.0/24).
