Change Samba package installations
Hi, I hope somebody can help me dealing with this problem. I have this problem of installing Samba2 into /opt/samba. How can I make the package install to /opt/samba instead of /usr/local/samba2 ??. This is because my hard disk space in /usr/local is about full and my /opt has alot of spaces. Thanks in advance for any help. Cheers Aqbal Rail R.E.S.E.A.R.C.H Fac. of Civil Engineering

installing a pseudo driver in a Solaris DOM U and DOM U reboot
Hello, on a v20z, we have as DOM 0 a Solaris XEN on snv44 64bits and we have as DOM U a Solaris XEN on snv44 64 bits. We then install a pseudo driver in the Solaris DOM 1 XEN snv44: installation is ok and driver works as expected. But on reboot of DOM 1, the driver is no more there (in modinfo, driver not found). Is there something special to do after a pseudo driver installation in a Solaris

snv_42 zfs/zpool dump core and kernel/fs/zfs won''t load.
I''m pretty sure this is my fault but I need some help in fixing the system. It was installed at one point with snv_29 with the pre integration SUNWzfs package. I did a live upgrade to snv_42 but forgot to remove the old SUNWzfs before I did so. When the system booted up got complaints about kstat install because I still had an old zpool kernel module lying around. So I did pkgrm

EMERGENCY: User profile for Win98 domain logon lost after upgrade to Oct 5 CVS code
Hello all, I'm in very big big trouble here. In an attempt to enable domain logon for NT workstations as well, I fetched the CVS code on Oct 5, 98. I successful built it with no error. I copied the smb.conf from a workable Sambav1.9.18p8 to the Samba2.0alpha. Then I started the smbd and nmbd of Samba2.0alpha. I rebooted one of the Windows 98 (which used to be working happily with

[PATCH] v2v: recognize Virtuozzo tools as Parallels tools
Recent updates of Virtuozzo Server 6 (fka Parallels Cloud Server 6) have "Virtuozzo tools" instead of "Parallels tools" as their display name in the corresponding Uninstall registry key. Recognize those, too, and schedule their uninstallation on first boot. Signed-off-by: Roman Kagan <rkagan at virtuozzo.com> --- v2v/convert_windows.ml | 2 +- 1 file changed, 1

Samba using Virtual Servers (load balancing)
Hello fellow samba users, Our company uses samba for all fileshares/printing/PDC on two SUN E3500's. We like to replace these with about 10 Linux 19" XEON (pizza)boxes. The question: Are there any implementation out there using a loadbalancing cluster doing samba? A simple diagram of the setup I have in mind: Users (+/- 500) ||| Headnode(Director 1) - Headnode (Director 2) | Worknode -

buildpkg.sh enhancements
I've made some changes to buildpkg.sh to make it easier for package builders to add their local changes. I'd like people that use buildpkg.sh to test and comment on these changes before I commit them to CVS. None of the defaults have changed. Some of the patch is is just moving chunks of code to a different location to make some of the enhancements work. Some things you may find

Programming: loop versus vector oriented
Dear all, I am new to R and to it's programming philosophy. The following function is supposed to work on a vector, but I can't figure out how to do that without looping through every element of it. Is there a more elegant way? Note: I have shortened it, so it is NOT correct from the pipe hydraulics point of view # Calculate wall friction factor # reynolds: Reynolds number # dk:

Using R in combination with GRASS for image classification
Hello everybody! For my academic project work I intend to use only open-source software. My objective is to carry out classification of satellite digital images using Geostatistics. I found out GRASS is a good software for image processing. Also a good geostatistics software is R. It is also known that R can be used in combination with GRASS. But I am not able to confirm that satellite digital

smbsh on HP-UX (SAMBA digest 1962)
I tried linking smbwrapper.so directly into bash, but that only works for bash and not any of the subprocesses it runs. That is bash can cd into the /smb directory and I can do an echo * to list files. But if I run a system command (ls, emacs) they can't see the /smb directory because they aren't linked with smbwrapper.so. -----Original Message----- From: Dirk De Wachter

PATCH: HPUX trusted system password checking
Dear developers, The HPUX 10.20 trusted system hack doesn't work yet as intended. I have adapted the auth-passwd.c file to make it work. Please find a context diff file attached to this file. This diff is against the latest OpenSSH 2.2.0p1 released Sept 2, 2000. Also on HPUX 10.20, xauth is not found at the standard location. Perhaps this standard location could be changed automagically
