Yes. Try checking the PAM setup. I have to assume when you say that you can't log in via something obvious like telnet, you mean that Windows users can't log in. Also there's no way I can authenticate using root when screen is locked. My nsswitch.conf looks like passwd files nis nisplus winbind Won't this first they local files then winbind? Regards, Norman
