Who's doing what?
All, Is there any way of telling which machine is doing what job? i.e. Domain Controller, local master, wins server etc. I have two machines and two workgroups but they both appear on the same workgroup. I think it is something to do with which machine is doing what. I think machine1 is acting as Domain Controller & Master Browser for workgroup1 and Machine2 is loosing all the browse

Why only one WINS server?
Hello, Documentation states that one should set up only one Samba server as WINS server. While NT's TCP/IP setup has two entrys, one for a primary and one for a secondary WINS server I wonder why there should be only one Samba WINS server. Has anyone tried this with two Samba WINS servers? Did you suffer from any interferences. I did and the machines are running perfectly smooth. Did I

SAMBA 1.9.18p10 problem
I have been using Samba 1.9.18p8 in a Solaris 2.6 machine for months but suddenly this week there is a problem. Nothing's changed. I have some persistent connection of my NTSP3 client to the samba share. When I login as usual, it fails to mount the drive. It either prompt for password but whatever password the samba rejects, or give a "Access is Denied" when you try to access the

Default path to identity file
Hi, The name of the identity file defaults to what fill_default_options() in readconf.c does: SSH_PROTO_1: "~/%.100s", _PATH_SSH_CLIENT_IDENTITY SSH_PROTO_2: "~/%.100s", _PATH_SSH_CLIENT_ID_RSA "~/%.100s", _PATH_SSH_CLIENT_ID_DSA Identity files are always expanded by tilde_expand_filename() which gets the name of the home directory from

user level authentication on Samba 2.0.0b4
First of, thanks to Robert Dahlem who pointed out that my "error 131" was due to using a hosts allow statement, but not allowing 127. to connect A new problem... I compiled samba on Solaris (Sparc) 2.6 with v4.2 of the sun CC compiler. It compiles just fine, and I appear to have a working binary. I run into problems when trying to connect using smbclient. It works if I specify my

Need help with 'Cannot find setup.exe Windows needs this file to

I am able to execute the program off the CD with no problems. I then copied the contents of the CD to the Samba share. I try and execute the setup.exe file and get this error. If I then copy the files from the Samba share to /temp, I can
