Why only one WINS server?
Hello, Documentation states that one should set up only one Samba server as WINS server. While NT's TCP/IP setup has two entrys, one for a primary and one for a secondary WINS server I wonder why there should be only one Samba WINS server. Has anyone tried this with two Samba WINS servers? Did you suffer from any interferences. I did and the machines are running perfectly smooth. Did I

SAMBA 1.9.18p10 problem
I have been using Samba 1.9.18p8 in a Solaris 2.6 machine for months but suddenly this week there is a problem. Nothing's changed. I have some persistent connection of my NTSP3 client to the samba share. When I login as usual, it fails to mount the drive. It either prompt for password but whatever password the samba rejects, or give a "Access is Denied" when you try to access the

Samba-> No [.] and [..] directories
Hello, I am using a Linux-Server with Samba 1.9.18p8. I have the problem that I can't see the directories [.] and [..] on DOS-Clients (MS-DOS Computer, DOS/WinOS2-Box from OS/2 and DOS-Boxen from Win95). That's very troublesome if your are in a Fileselectbox and want to change to the updir. Here is the part of my smb.conf for the share: [daten] comment = Daten path = /netz/daten

Default path to identity file
Hi, The name of the identity file defaults to what fill_default_options() in readconf.c does: SSH_PROTO_1: "~/%.100s", _PATH_SSH_CLIENT_IDENTITY SSH_PROTO_2: "~/%.100s", _PATH_SSH_CLIENT_ID_RSA "~/%.100s", _PATH_SSH_CLIENT_ID_DSA Identity files are always expanded by tilde_expand_filename() which gets the name of the home directory from

Q : Disallow samba over 1 NIC
Currently I'm using a linux+samba+PPP I didn't had to do something special to disallow samba over the PPP connection. Must I do something to disallow samba over a second NIC (=not the LAN) or how must samba be bound to the nic of the LAN ?

Need help with 'Cannot find setup.exe Windows needs this file to
OK. Maybe I was a little terse in the description. I have a CD we (Candle) created. It installs one of our products by executing the setup.exe program. I am able to execute the program off the CD with no problems. I then copied the contents of the CD to the Samba share. I try and execute the setup.exe file and get this error. If I then copy the files from the Samba share to /temp, I can

Anyone resolved "failed to lock SMB passwd file"?
Hi all. I'm experiencing long connect delays due to password file locking errors. For each connection samba logs the following errors: do_pw_lock: failed to lock SMB passwd file. mod_smbpwd_entry: unable to lock file /usr/local/samba-1.9.18p10/private/smbpasswd In the archives I found some other messages reporting the problem (on May this year), but no solution. Did I

Group information lost when security = server
Hi. I have a samba install, samba-1.9.18p4, with security=server. Users are validated against the NT domain controller correctly, and user accounts do exist on the unix box (AIX 4.2.1) Problem is that while the uid of the files that users create is correct, the group id is always sys, even though the users have as primary gid STAFF. The definition of the share I am trying to create is: [cslan]

upgrade eDir NW6.5 -> Samba 3 -> Samba 4
Hi all, I do have a question to Andrews statement... https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2013-January/171054.html > You might be able to instead upgrade your Novell domain into Samba 4.0's > AD DC, if it currently backs a Samba 3.x 'classic' domain (or can be > made to), [...] I'm a little confused. I am probably able to run a Samba3 acting as a PDC with my eDir users

how to stop WfWG local browse master announcements?
this isn't strictly a samba question, but it is related in that i'm trying to a samba server as my domain master browser and multiple samba servers as local master browsers for a workgroup across multiple subnets. everything seems to be working wonderfully except for one WfWG host which does not show up in the browse list as expected. i notice that this host is announcing itself as a

filter ingress policy based on nfmark
Hi all. Since I move on to 2.6 kernel , filter ingress policy based on nfmark won´t work. Sorry for my english. [LLVMdev] llvm get annotations
Hi, I solved it. From the ConstantStruct you can call getOperand() multiple times, so "mine" as deep as you can. [LLVMdev] llvm get annotations
Hi Sebastian, Thanks for the response. I already did this : I cast the entire annotated expression to Value*. Then, in order to avoid ugly things like getAsString(), I check if V->getValueID() == Value::ConstantArrayVal in order to cast it to ConstantArray. Because it contains only array[0], I cast array0>getOperand(0) to ConstantStruct. Therefore, from ConstantStruct you can get all the

--{enable/disable}-suid-ssh removed, rhosts auth gone when UID != 0
Hi, According to ChangeLog someone "(bal)" removed -{enable/disable}-suid-ssh from configure (dating from 2002/06/07). Don't know the reason, probably this has something to do with PrivilegeSeparation. Consequence is: Users with UID != 0 are no longer able to allocate privileged ports, sshd answers "Rhosts Authentication disabled, originating port will not be
