smbclient -L
I have a samba 2.0.6 server. It's running domain security with NT 4.0 Sp 5 as a PDC. That all works great. When I run smbclient -L against 95,98,or other samba servers I get a list of shares. However against NT4.0 (workstation and server) I get no share listing at all. I can retrieve browse lists. I am suspcious here of needing to guest account something somewhere (local NT domain

double click on shared folder (security=user) and it takes about 25 seconds to open the folder (if it even comes up). After that going deeper into the filesystem is not an issue...but when you browse back to the base folder you experience the same issue again (25 seconds or 'crash'). If it 'crashes' I get the error "\\servername\serverdir is not accessible. The session

SMBCLIENT to Domain-Laden NT SP3
I am trying to list the shares on an NT 4.0 SP3 system. I supply the -L <host> and -U <user> parameter and the password. The password is correct, but I get an error 2242 returned. On a similar machine configured without domains I have no problem. I have built using DES and without DES and have tried the -DBSD44 switch and without it (this is on FreeBSD). Enclosed is the debug

smbclient-2.2.8a cannot connect to samba-3.0.0 server
Hi I have a problem with subject. I have a samba 3.0.1 server to which both windows and linux (using smbclient version 3) users can connect perfectly. But smbclient version 2.2.8a or earlier users cannot connect to this server. I have searched release notes, changelogs, the linux.samba newsgroup and found no indication of others having the same problem. Most likely it is something I have

Can't write mount entrysmbmnt failed: 1
I've compiled and installed samba-2.2.8a on an embedded linux/uClibc system, and I'm having problems using smbmount. I've appended the debuglevel=10 output of smbmount. What does smbmount mean when it says it "Can't write mount entry"? I tried running it under strace to see what it was writing to, but all I saw was: rt_sigaction(SIGTERM, {0x10000000, [], 0x408160},

Getting SAMBA 2.0.0 (SGI's compile) and HP's AS/U LanMan playing nice

Printing to a windows printer (ERRSRV 22)
Hello everyone, I am trying to print from my linux-box to a networked windows printer "konica 7040" (actually it is a copier which can print too) with samba. I got as far as to configure Samba and file shares are working quite well, but not the printing. I traced back to this problem to a single "smbclient" command which returns the following error message: "Error writing

smpassswd unable to join domain.
Hello, I have been trying for 3 days now to get smbpasswd to join my existing NT 4.0 domain, without success. The command I run is "smbpasswd -j CCH -r chrivdc01 -U knoxth" (yes, userid knoxth has Administrative access). No luck. I've included the output of adding -D 3 to the options line. Can anyone help me figure out what is happening?? Thanks! Tom ----- Forwarded by Thomas

smbmount in 3beta3 dead?
I'm having some unusual results with smbmount. I've tried mounting multiple server shares from multiple servers with the same results. Here's my command line... /usr/sbin/smbmount //Gilligan/Homedir /mnt/mktg -o username=jlahners,password=xxxxxxx,debug=6 smbmount never returns however, the mount is established and I can view the entire directory structure as if the mount succeeded.

smbprint'ing problem
Hey Folks, I've spent several days weeding through list archives and FAQs. I've been given the task to debug a samba printing issue and have really no idea where to start. The version is 3.0.15a and the config in question is exactly the same as the previous version we used. I believe that was 2.8.x (not sure though) I guess the problem is that no matter what I've tried the end

problem with winbind (netlogon proxy only mode)
Hello I have two similar servers, both are Debian Etch (fully updated). Both work as PDC with samba 3.0.24-6etch9. Both have squid proxy working and I am using winbind to authenticate my proxy users. Couple of days ago I've encountered a problem with authorization on one of my servers. I realized that winbind stopped working properly. wbinfo -t now gives: checking the trust secret via RPC

smbmount and PCShare [Helios]
I tried to mount a PCShare file system with smbmount and was surprised to see that there is a problem while writing files to the mounted file system. I can read everything and move things an make directories within the shared file system. But if I try to copy a file from the local disk (LINUX SuSE 8.1) to the shared file system I get an I/O error. I suppose that this is not a permission
