Rsync hang on HP-UX 10.20
Hi,
We downloaded the latest rsync 2.5.6 source code and compiled it on HP-UX for both 10.20 and 11.x. Rsync runs fine if we run it from the command line on both platforms. But after we put rsync command into a HP Software Distributor package configure script (just a shell script with rsync command in it) and run swinstall, which will get installation bits including the configure script, put the

Exec file incompatible with hardware
Sorry if this is going to be one of those 'idiot' questions, but I don't
use Samba. It has always been on our server, chugging along beautifully
so no on ever had to touch it... Well, we consolidated servers and moved
everything to another server with HP-UX 10.20 (the previous server had
the same HPUX version so I thought I was in the clear), the samba
version is samba-1.9.18p2. I

Building 3.0p1 on HPUX 10.2, gcc, zlib 1.1.4
Hi everybody,
I've never posted here before but I seem to be having a similar problem to
what Tim Rice had in July, namely when running the configure script I get
the following:
configure: error: *** zlib missing - please install first or check
config.log ***
However, I have definitely installed zlib (see below):

HP-UX announces binary Secure Shell product based on OpenSSH sou rce
HP has taken OpenSSH version 3.1p1 and made a binary swinstall product for
HP-UX customers to use. The source is bundled with the product and is
slightly different than OpenSSH 3.1p1, but the changes made were just to
make the OpenSSH features work on HP-UX 11.00 and 11i.
HP-UX Secure Shell is a fully supported no charge product for HP-UX users
with a current HP-UX support contract, and is

Access to Files on Unix host from Windows2K Host
I needed to find a way for a user, on a Windows 2000 host, to be able to access files in a filesystem on a unix host running HP-UX 11 (and Apache webserver) both of which are on the same network.
The files in the directory on the unix host are open for all to read.
An application on the Windows host expects to have the path for the file system (on the unix host) defined in an .ini file as

HP-UX 10.20 assistance
To Whomever can assist,
I am looking for anyone who has gotten OpenSsh 3.7.1p2 to build under
HP-UX 10.20. I am working with the latest gcc (v. 3.3.1), gmake (v. 3.80),
and Openssl (0.9.7c) and I still can not get OpenSsh to build properly.
It errors out on the build process with a:

Unable to configure 2.2.4 on HPUX 10.20 (locking not available)
While running configure on samba2.2.4 source on an HP-UX 10.20 OS, I get the
following:
checking configure summary... ERROR: No locking available. Running Samba would
be unsafe
configure: error: summary failure. Aborting config
What exactly does "No locking available" mean, and is there a workaround? I'm
currently running version 1.9.15p8 on the same OS.
TIA!

Binary distributions
I have just finished compiling Samba 2.0.7 and creating HP-UX
swinstallable bundles for both HP-UX 10.20 and 11.00. In both
cases I compiled with the +DAportable flag so that the linker
would create PA-RISC 1 code, for hardware portability.
If anybody has a need for pre-compiled HP-UX bundles I'd be
happy to make these available.
I can also compile on AIX 4.3 and SunOS 4.13 / Solaris 2.6

Problems compiling OpenSSH [no version info] on HP-UX 10.20 w as: (no subject)
Aloha Rip
Thanks for your quick response. I did compile OpenSSH stuffs by using GCC
2.95.2 first, the error is the same. Since there are no issues on other
platforms by using GCC 3.3.2, I tried to take a luck on HP-UX 10.20 by
using GCC 3.3.2. Unfortunately, it is same, even at the same line
What I am guessing is that it could be from some system environment
variable setting, but I am not sure

patch: openssh 3.9p1 on hp-ux 10.20
OpenSSH 3.9p1 does not compile on HP-UX 10.20 due to the code which was
added in includes.h to work around HP-UX 11.11's behavior. The following
patch lets it work on HP-UX 10.20. It should also work on HP-UX 11.11,
but I can't test that (no HP-UX 11 boxes here).
It uses code from http://www.faqs.org/faqs/hp/hpux-faq/section-213.html .

Problems compiling OpenSSH [no version info] on HP-UX 10.20 was: (no subject)
Aloha Jiwen (I used to get kama'aina discounts, but
no longer)--
First, you didn't tell us what OpenSSH source code
version you're trying to compile. Without that info
there are any number of possible problems--so I'll
assume (for now) that you're using the latest
released portable version of OpenSSH. Please
reply with specific version info.
