Trying to use CentOS 5.2 to make a WAN Router
I have a CIDR block of IP addresses that I need to pass through to a WAN. I am trying to have a CentOS 5.2 basic install with 2 NICs be the router/gateway between the WAN and the public IP CIDR block. Has anyone done this? Other than turning on IP forwarding what did you have to do?

Multi-ISP :- Multi-Wan Broadband Router Appliance VS Multiple eth Linux routing
Hi all I need to use three 512 kbps aDSL internet connections, in a load-sharing, link-failover scenario. Presently I am using Ipcop with a single DSL. Now, I seem to have two options...one..an Edimax quad wan port adsl router, with firewalling and NAT and second install a minimal linux distro for routing...something on the lines of LARTC....and keep NATTING, IDS & Firewalling on the linux

Slight OT: Multi WAN Router and SIP Calls
We are drafting a plan for a new office setup. The users will be using Cisco 7940 phones registered to a remote Asterisk server. We were thinking of using two ADSL lines coming into a Multi-WAN router to allow for load balancing. As opposed to setting up half the users on one ADSL line, half on the other. It would seem that this could cause a problem where a given phone could be registered out

Dual Wan Router with Failover
Hi List, Does anyone know of a good dual wan router that can handle SIP well and can failover between connections if there is a SIP issue on one of the lines (meaning there still is a connection however there isnt enough bandwith or sip packets arent going thru etc.) ? Thanks. Dovid -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

wan hdlc_ppp and IPv6
Hi list, I can successfully build the driver modules; hdlc, dlci, syncppp, and lmc from the 2.6.18-128.1.14 kernel source rpm, and have managed to create a 'wan kmod' rpm. It all works fine for IPv4, but now I need IPv6 for ppp connections, which doesn't work for me. I think I'll need to back port Krzysztof Halasa's 'ppp for generic hdlc' patches to the

Samba across WAN link
Hello All, We have 2 Samba servers in our domain at our site. Server A) is a Primary Domain Controller that everyone logs into and Server B) just has drives shared on it. We have another site with a Server C) running MARS NWE we are connected to via a 256k WAN link. If we were to run Samba on this Server C) and set it up like Server B) i.e. Have all 3 servers in the same domain all with one

Multiple WAN + Multiple LAN + linux-igd
Hi, I''m implementing a linux router with this characteristics: - Multiple adsl with each public ip''s - Multiple LAN ethernets (in a bridge). - Linux IGD I have successfully implemented de 2 first steps, the adsl balanced fine (multipath routing), and the clients bridge fine. My problem is how to use that with linux-igd. My LAN bridge has STP and is implemented for

Samba w/ WAN.
hi, I'm going to be setting up Samba with a WAN and VPN. On one end of the network (my end) it will be Samba on a Linux box and some NT and 98 PCs. On the other end of the WAN it will be Windows only. I'd like to know if we need to be able to route anything other than TCP packages. Like NetBIOS or something else Windows may use. Thanks, J.

Wan optimizations with linux
Hi, I''m researching for WAN optimizations with linux. My network is composed for MPLS network connecting 200 branches against a central site. I use Linux machines to provide security with IPSEC in the branches and in the central site. Now I''m lookup for techniques for optimization the link. My first ideas was use IPCOMP and proxy to cache traffic of HTTP applications. Somebody

CTDB over WAN Link with LMASTER/RECMASTER Disabled
Hi, I came across the 'CTDB_CAPABILITY_LMASTER=no' and 'CTDB_CAPABILITY_RECMASTER=no' options in my quest to salvage a rather poorly performing CTDB cluster over Ceph(fs). Unfortunately, the docs provide not enough information for a clustering noop like myself. Would there be any benefit to disabling those options for a branch office node on a high-latency WAN connection?

DMZ and WAN
Hola, I have a question in regards to ignoring traffic shaping for LAN side that connects to a DMZ IMAP server through the WAN interface. The DMZ and the WAN side are both on a 10/100 switch. VPN Single Daemon For LAN/WAN
Guus: Ok, I accept your challenge. But I am clueless in terms of getting the routing table correct. So each server has a dual identity, both a LAN private identity with a PRIVATE IP address and a WAN public identify with a PUBLIC ip address. And how to have 2 different tun devices show up in the ifconfig -a so that LAN IP address can be assigned to the tun0 and a WAN IP address can be assigned

WINS via WAN problem
Hi everyone. I have two windows machines logging into my Linux machine via nxclient. One via a LAN and the other coming in through the internet. Both are sharing one printer and one folder. The one that is on the LAN I can smbclient -L <host> and see, but not the one via WAN. The shared folder works on both machines but the printer only works on the local. The shared printer via the
